德性之教的艱難——以蘇格拉底對(duì)阿爾喀比亞德的教育為例

【摘要】:作為偉大教師的蘇格拉底通過對(duì)話,成功地使容貌俊美、天資聰穎、野心勃勃的阿爾喀比亞德追尋美德。這一教育行動(dòng)產(chǎn)生了多重結(jié)果:阿爾喀比亞德答應(yīng)追求正義,對(duì)蘇格拉底也產(chǎn)生了愛慕之心;但愛慕并未能將他拉離自己的政治野心,未能充分喚起他內(nèi)在的天賦力量去操練自己的靈魂;最終阿爾喀比亞德在給城邦帶來災(zāi)難的同時(shí)也毀滅了自己,蘇格拉底也以敗壞青年罪被處死。這充分彰顯了德性之教的艱難。即便如此,蘇格拉底仍審慎而滿懷愛欲地進(jìn)行著艱難的德性之教。我們需要不斷地返回自身,返回到蘇格拉底的教導(dǎo)之中,用一生的時(shí)間操練自己的靈魂,在艱難之中追尋美德。
[Abstract]:As a great teacher, Socrates succeeded in pursuing virtue through dialogue with the handsome, intelligent, and ambitious Arkabiad. There were many consequences of this educational action: Arkabiad promised to pursue justice and a love for Socrates, but love failed to pull him away from his political ambitions. He failed to awaken his innate powers to drill his soul; eventually Arkabiad destroyed himself while bringing disaster to the city-states, and Socrates was executed for the crime of ruining the youth. This fully demonstrates the difficulties of virtue education. Even so, Socrates was cautiously and passionately engaged in the difficult teaching of virtue. We need to constantly return to Socrates' teachings, to train our souls throughout our lives, and to pursue virtue in the midst of hardship.
