　　《荒原》（The Waste Land, 1922）是T.S.艾略特（1888-1965）的代表作,該作品一面世立刻引起軒然大波,許多人認為它勾勒了一幅絕望的全景圖,而F. L.盧卡斯一開始對其心生厭惡,查理斯·鮑威爾（Charles Powell）視其為“廢紙”。H. P.勒夫克拉夫特鄙夷艾略特,聲稱這首詩是“短語,典故,引用,俚語等的無意義的堆砌”。I. A.理查茲則大肆表揚艾略特描繪了戰(zhàn)后的“荒蕪、不確定性、不育、了無生機、徒勞無望感,渴望生命之水澆灌卻不得”。埃德蒙·威爾遜（Edmund Wilson）認為這首詩背后隱藏著完整的象征構架。事實上,整首詩是嚴肅的、警世的,而非艾略特所宣稱的“有節(jié)奏的牢騷”�！痘脑分谐尸F(xiàn)出來的是毫無生機的自然,委頓無力的人類。艾略特一反以往的浪漫主義詩歌歌頌贊美大自然,以驚人的筆觸描寫他那個時代真實的自然,重新考慮人與自然的關系,重新確認人在自然生態(tài)系統(tǒng)中的位置和責任。他對自然的審視包含著對遭到工業(yè)文明侵襲的自然環(huán)境的深切同情和尊重,體現(xiàn)了詩人對人與自然、人與人和諧健康發(fā)展的高度責任感,對詩意棲居的憧憬。本論文在生態(tài)視閾下重新解讀《荒原》,運用精...
