《在西方的注視下》是約瑟夫·康拉德第三部、也是最后一部重要的政治小說,通常被認為是康拉德最出色的作品之一。正如F.R.利維斯所說,“它是非常地出色,因而一定要算在可以穩(wěn)定確立康拉德作為英國大師之一的那些作品中”。 本文根據(jù)元小說相關(guān)理論與創(chuàng)作實踐,并結(jié)合敘事學(xué)的研究方法,主要探討《在西方的注視下》中的元小說敘事策略及其所體現(xiàn)的康拉德的藝術(shù)觀和哲學(xué)觀。論文分為引言、正文、結(jié)語三大部分。引言部分首先概括國內(nèi)外對《在西方的注視下》的研究成果,重點說明本論文的選題依據(jù)和研究意義。正文部分由三章構(gòu)成。第一章簡要介紹元小說的各種定義,界定元小說的突出特征和共同特征,同時簡要闡明了元小說與后現(xiàn)代主義之間的關(guān)系。在此基礎(chǔ)上,歸納了兩類主要的元小說敘事策略,即暴露敘事虛構(gòu)性策略和打破框架策略。第二章重點研究了元小說敘事策略在《在西方的注視下》中的具體運用。首先,“中國盒子”敘事結(jié)構(gòu)以及多重敘事視角的運用及其轉(zhuǎn)換打破了傳統(tǒng)的敘事方式,演繹了一個典型的元小說框架；其次,雙重敘事策略在小說中的運用很大程度上體現(xiàn)了該文本的元小說特征。此外,《在西方的注視下》使用了互文性技巧增強文本的虛構(gòu)性,如它同許多文學(xué)作家及...
