初中英語教科書文本可讀性公式初探
[Abstract]:This paper mainly discusses how to predict the readability of middle school English textbooks. On the basis of the research results of readability of English texts at home and abroad, this paper studies the readability of English textbooks in junior high schools in our country by referring to the previous research ideas and methods. This paper attempts to provide a simple measurement method for teachers and learners to choose appropriate level of learning materials. On the basis of literature review, this paper presents an analytical framework for the readability of English texts, which includes two dimensions of sentence, two large dimensions of vocabulary, seven small dimensions of word length and sentence length. Since the analysis framework is based on existing research abroad, it can not be directly applied to the readability analysis of junior high school English textbooks in China. On the basis of the analysis dimension summarized by the previous studies, this paper compiled a questionnaire to investigate the factors affecting the readability of English textbooks in junior high school, and investigated 120 students of different grades in four junior high schools. Finally, an analysis framework for the readability of junior high school English textbooks is drawn, which includes two large dimensions, nine small dimensions and a total of 20 influencing factors, which is based on the analysis framework of the influencing factors. This paper analyzes the text of 61 samples selected from two representative versions of English textbooks, one is the educational version and the other is the extrapolated edition, and the appropriate regional value of each factor is obtained. Then, on the basis of the previous research, the paper makes a textual analysis of the text of the 61 samples selected from the two representative versions of the English textbook. By means of correlation analysis and multivariate regression analysis, this paper establishes a simple formula for predicting the readability of junior high school English textbooks: yang7.590 0.620X1-0.118X2 0.029X3-0.098X4, where Y is the grade level X1 of the text. X2 is the number of thematic words per hundred words, X3 is the number of five levels of vocabulary per hundred words, and X4 is the number of simple sentences per hundred words. The formula has a good fitting degree and can explain 71.4% variation, but the validity of the formula still needs to be tested in practice. Finally, the author makes a rational thinking on the whole research process, summarizes the shortcomings of this research, and points out the research direction in the future.
