亨利·詹姆斯是美國最偉大的小說家和批評家之一。他的小說理論和實踐為小說的發(fā)展做出了很大貢獻。伊莎貝爾·阿徹爾是《貴婦畫像》的女主角�！顿F婦畫像》被公認為詹姆斯的代表作之一。這篇論文旨在研究亨利·詹姆斯是怎樣創(chuàng)作出伊莎貝爾·阿徹爾這個人物的。無疑,這個人物具有復雜而矛盾的性格。伊莎貝爾的塑造首先歸因于詹姆斯的個人經歷,特別是他的家庭和他所接受的教育、他的童年經歷、在歐洲的經歷以及他與表妹米妮·坦普爾的特殊關系。其次,伊莎貝爾復雜而又矛盾的性格也源于詹姆斯復雜的思想。詹姆斯復雜的思想則來自于他所受到的各種思潮的影響,特別是超驗主義、傳統(tǒng)觀念和實用主義的影響。因此,方面,伊莎貝爾像超驗主義者那樣熱愛自由和獨立,像實用主義者那樣注重生活和經驗以及智性和意識；另一方面,她又嚴格遵守傳統(tǒng)的道德觀和婚姻觀。這些觀念限制她的自由和獨立,減少她盡可能多地去探索生活和增長經驗的機會。論文分為四章。第一章分析詹姆斯特殊的經歷對伊莎貝爾的性格和經歷的影響,包括詹姆斯的家庭和他所接受的教育、他的童年經歷、在歐洲的經歷以及他的表妹米妮·坦普爾一伊莎貝爾的原型。第二章探究超驗主義對詹姆斯的影響,詹姆斯對超驗主義的態(tài)...
