從圖里的翻譯規(guī)范理論看李繼宏譯《追風(fēng)箏的人》

【摘要】:美籍阿富汗作家卡勒德·胡塞尼的處女作The Kite Runner于2003年在美國(guó)出版,一經(jīng)問(wèn)世,便轟動(dòng)了整個(gè)美國(guó)乃至全球,被《紐約時(shí)報(bào)》評(píng)為當(dāng)年的最佳暢銷書。這部小說(shuō)以其獨(dú)特的社會(huì)文化背景,豐富的故事情節(jié)以及平實(shí)而細(xì)膩的語(yǔ)言和情感吸引并感染了每一位讀者,使讀者在沉浸于故事情節(jié)發(fā)展之中的同時(shí),更傾向于反思自己的人生,找尋心靈深處最真實(shí)的聲音。該小說(shuō)的簡(jiǎn)體中文版由年輕的翻譯家李繼宏所譯,于2006年與中國(guó)大陸的讀者見面,同樣在讀者中引起了極大的共鳴和反響,深受讀者喜愛。國(guó)內(nèi)外對(duì)于原著的故事情節(jié)以及原作者的寫作風(fēng)格的評(píng)論可謂是舉不勝舉,然而站在中國(guó)讀者的立場(chǎng)上從翻譯的角度來(lái)看這部譯作的例子卻屈指可數(shù)。鑒于此,筆者選擇將該譯作作為本論文的研究對(duì)象。 上世紀(jì)七十年代末,以色列著名學(xué)者吉迪恩·圖里發(fā)展了埃文·佐哈爾的多元系統(tǒng)理論,提出了翻譯規(guī)范的概念,認(rèn)為翻譯是一種受規(guī)范制約的活動(dòng),而規(guī)范不僅來(lái)自于語(yǔ)言轉(zhuǎn)換中的對(duì)等和協(xié)調(diào),更存在于社會(huì)及文化對(duì)翻譯行為的約束。本文以圖里的翻譯規(guī)范理論為理論依托,從“預(yù)規(guī)范”、“元規(guī)范”以及“操作規(guī)范”三方面對(duì)李繼宏譯《追風(fēng)箏的人》進(jìn)行描述性及分析性的研究,不局限于探討原文和譯文的聯(lián)系,更注重理解目的語(yǔ)文化對(duì)于翻譯行為以及翻譯產(chǎn)品的影響。 研究表明,李繼宏譯《追風(fēng)箏的人》之所以取得成功絕非偶然,而在于譯者在翻譯活動(dòng)的各個(gè)階段都受到語(yǔ)言、社會(huì)以及文化等因素的約束,并且作出了適當(dāng)?shù)倪x擇,且采用了相應(yīng)的策略。首先,譯者在選擇翻譯對(duì)象時(shí),受到目的語(yǔ)文化的翻譯政策以及翻譯直接性的影響,選擇極富阿富汗本土風(fēng)情的暢銷小說(shuō)The Kite Runner原著作為翻譯對(duì)象;其次,在對(duì)原文的忠實(shí)程度的宏觀抉擇中,譯者明確自身的翻譯目的,在“充分性”和“可接受性”的選擇中更傾向于滿足目的文本的可接受性:再者,在翻譯過(guò)程的微觀抉擇中,譯者根據(jù)目的語(yǔ)表達(dá)習(xí)慣,采取了適當(dāng)?shù)姆g技巧和方法,如加注法、釋義法等,使得譯文行文流暢,通俗易懂,贏得讀者喜愛。本文通過(guò)借鑒圖里的翻譯規(guī)范理論,為李繼宏譯《追風(fēng)箏的人》的相關(guān)研究提供了一個(gè)新的視角,同時(shí)也對(duì)翻譯實(shí)踐具有借鑒和指導(dǎo)意義。
[Abstract]:American Afghan writer Khaled Husseni's first book, The Kite Runner, was published in the United States in 2003, and once it was published, it became a sensation throughout the United States and around the world. Rated as the best seller of the year by the New York Times, the novel has attracted and infected every reader with its unique sociocultural background, rich storylines, and plain and delicate language and emotions. While immersing themselves in the development of the story, readers are more inclined to reflect on their own lives and find the most authentic voice in their hearts. The simplified Chinese version of the novel is translated by young translator Li Jihong. The meeting with mainland Chinese readers in 2006 has also aroused great resonance and response among the readers, and has been deeply loved by the readers. There are numerous comments at home and abroad on the storylines of the original works and the writing style of the original authors. However, from the standpoint of Chinese readers, there are few examples of this translation from the perspective of translation. In view of this, the author chooses the translation as the research object of this thesis. In the late 1970s, Gideon Toury, a famous Israeli scholar, developed Evan Zohar's theory of multiple systems and put forward the concept of translation norms, which holds that translation is a kind of activity restricted by norms. Norms not only come from equivalence and coordination in language transformation, but also exist in social and cultural constraints on translation behavior. The descriptive and analytical study of Li Jihong's translation of "Kite pursuers" from three aspects of "prestandard", "meta-standard" and "operational norms" is not limited to the relationship between the original text and the translated text. More attention should be paid to understanding the effect of target language culture on translation behavior and translation products. The study shows that the success of Li Jihong's translation of "Kite pursuers" is no accident, but rather that translators are constrained by language, society and culture at all stages of translation, and have made appropriate choices. Firstly, the translator, influenced by the translation policy of the target language culture and the directness of translation, chooses the best-selling novel The Kite Runner, which is full of native Afghan customs, as the target for translation. Secondly, in the macro choice of fidelity to the original text, the translator is more inclined to satisfy the acceptability of the target text in the choice of "adequacy" and "acceptability". In the microcosmic choice of the translation process, the translator adopts appropriate translation techniques and methods, such as annotation and interpretation, according to the target language expression habits, which makes the text smooth and easy to understand. By drawing lessons from the translation norms theory in the picture, this paper provides a new perspective for the study of Li Jihong's translation of Kite pursuers, and it is also of great significance to the translation practice.
