【摘要】：約翰·厄普代克(1932-2009)是美國當(dāng)代著名長篇小說、短篇小說作家、詩人。他一生發(fā)表了大量體裁多樣的作品,自1958年發(fā)表第一部作品以來,厄普代克共創(chuàng)作了50多部作品,其中包括30多部長篇小說,10多部中短篇小說集,以及一些詩集和評論集等,兩獲普利策獎、兩獲國家圖書獎以及歐·亨利獎。他著眼于美國現(xiàn)實(shí)社會,刻畫不同歷史時期普通人的生存狀態(tài),展現(xiàn)人生百態(tài),其文風(fēng)對許多作家產(chǎn)生了巨大影響,有“美國的巴爾扎克”之稱�！恶R人》是厄普代克的第三部小說,描述了美國經(jīng)濟(jì)大蕭條和兩次世界大戰(zhàn)時期小人物的悲喜和生活狀態(tài)。本論文探討了《馬人》中以男主人公喬治·卡德威爾為代表的普通小人物充滿矛盾的內(nèi)心世界和精神狀態(tài),分析了他們由于片面錯誤的自我認(rèn)知面臨生存困境,以及最后從關(guān)注自我中走出來,獲得真正的自我認(rèn)知的心路歷程。本文在文本細(xì)讀的基礎(chǔ)上,運(yùn)用社會歷史和文化研究方法,解讀上世紀(jì)三十年代美國經(jīng)濟(jì)大蕭條及二戰(zhàn)后在物質(zhì)貧乏、社會動蕩大背景下普通人的生存狀態(tài)和為擺脫物質(zhì)和精神雙重困境所作的努力。 在《馬人》中,卡德威爾由于錯誤的自我認(rèn)識而面臨巨大的精神困惑。作為復(fù)雜矛盾的統(tǒng)一體,他既自大又自卑：一方面卡德威爾將自己看作無所不能的神,對家庭和事業(yè)有著一種個人英雄主義的擔(dān)當(dāng),并且為他人性格上的不足感到痛苦；另一方面他又因無力處理人際關(guān)系和解決信仰問題陷入深深的自卑之中,度掙扎在自我毀滅的邊緣。為改變自己在生活中四處碰壁的現(xiàn)狀,卡德威爾做出了種種努力。他努力從自我專注中走出去,嘗試肯定他人的生活價值,同時開始投身于各種社會事務(wù),在此過程中他逐漸認(rèn)清自己在社會和家庭中的位置以及自己與他人之間的關(guān)系。在認(rèn)清自我后,卡德威爾坦然面對自己的人生,忠實(shí)履行自己的社會職責(zé)。他拒絕死亡的誘惑,并從家人平常的幸福和樂趣中找到自己生活的價值和精神上的滿足,最終獲得了理想的自我嬗變。 本文認(rèn)為正確的自我認(rèn)知是人心智成熟的標(biāo)志。厄普代克以希臘神話故事“馬人”為小說的隱喻結(jié)構(gòu),重新闡釋了傳統(tǒng)個人英雄主義的實(shí)質(zhì)。一個人只有正確認(rèn)識自己并準(zhǔn)確進(jìn)行自我定位才能最終找到自己的生活價值和樂趣。
[Abstract]:John Updike (1932-2009) is a famous American novel, short story writer and poet. He published various genres of works, published since 1958 first works, Updike wrote more than 50 books, including more than 30 novels, more than 10 collections of short stories, and some poems and commentaries, two Pulitzer prize, two won the National Book Award and the O Henry prize. He focuses on the reality of American society in different historical periods, describe the living condition of the common people, show the vicissitudes of life, its style has great influence on many writers, "American Balzac" said. "The horse" is Updike's third novel, describes the great depression and the two World War little resurrection and life. This paper discusses the common people "in the hero George Caldwell as the representative of the horse" full of contradictions in the inner world and the spirit of the state, the analysis of their errors due to one-sided self cognition and struggling to survive, and finally come out from the attention to self, mentality really self cognition. In this paper, based on the text, using the research methods of social history and culture, on the interpretation of the American depression in 30s and after World War II in poverty, social unrest and ordinary people under the background of the survival state and to get rid of the dilemma of material and spiritual efforts.
