【摘要】：前言是一種常見的書面語,主要介紹作品的內容、主旨,或對作品加以評論。近年來,許多學者從系統(tǒng)功能語言學,敘事學和話語分析等各領域對其進行研究。然后,前言在語用學方面的研究也應該得到重視。文本以Brown和Levinson的“面子理論”為理論框架,隨機選取近五年來英漢語言類書籍他序前言各30篇,通過分析前言作者對原書作者和普通讀者所采取的的積極禮貌策略和消極禮貌策略,比較了英漢前言中各策略使用之異同,結果表明：一方面,中英文前言中使用的禮貌策略基本相同,且二者都傾向于更多使用積極禮貌策略,中英文前言作者都對書作者比對普通讀者采取了更多的禮貌策略；另一方面,“恭維語”這一積極禮貌策略在中文前言的中出現(xiàn)頻率高于其在英文前言中的頻率,英文前言作者多采用“說明書的優(yōu)點”這一禮貌策略來滿足讀者的積極面子,而中文前言作者則多使用“我們”把交際者包含在同一群體內,“減輕強加”這一消極禮貌策略更多地出現(xiàn)在中文前言中。 本文也從文化角度對造成英漢前言禮貌策略使用異同的原因進行了分析,提出禮貌的普遍性和前言的本質要求造成了英漢前言禮貌策略使用的相似,而東西方面子概念,價值觀,高、低語境和圖書出版情況的不同則造成了英漢前言禮貌策略使用頻率的差異。 本研究采用定性分析和定量分析相結合的手法,并用表格和柱形圖呈現(xiàn)其研究結果。該研究證明了面子理論在不同文化背景的語篇中的可行性和有效性,同時可以指導有效前言閱讀和寫作,為前言語言學領域的研究提供了新的視角。
