英漢“冰”、“雪”概念隱喻的文化認(rèn)知研究

傳統(tǒng)的隱喻觀認(rèn)為隱喻只是一種修辭手段,僅僅是一種語(yǔ)言現(xiàn)象。體驗(yàn)現(xiàn)實(shí)主義與經(jīng)驗(yàn)主義哲學(xué)的提出為隱喻的認(rèn)知觀提供了基礎(chǔ)假設(shè)。在語(yǔ)言學(xué)中,隱喻不僅僅是語(yǔ)言的一個(gè)方面,而是一種特定的心理映射與神經(jīng)共激活形式,它極大影響人們?cè)谏钪兴伎、推理和想象的方式。根?jù)概念隱喻理論,概念隱喻是兩個(gè)認(rèn)知域的映射,其中一個(gè)域即源域通常比另一個(gè)域即目標(biāo)域更具體。而兩個(gè)域之間的映射是基于人們的體驗(yàn)經(jīng)驗(yàn)。任何的認(rèn)知與體驗(yàn)本質(zhì)上都與文化相關(guān),因此越來(lái)越多的學(xué)者開(kāi)始關(guān)注文化及社會(huì)因素是如何影響人類理解這些體驗(yàn)以及建立在這些體驗(yàn)基礎(chǔ)上的概念隱喻。天氣是一種與人們?nèi)粘I钕⑾⑾嚓P(guān)的重要自然現(xiàn)象,常作為源域來(lái)描述人們生活中遇到的各種情景和解釋各種抽象概念。以往對(duì)天氣的研究主要集中在對(duì)“風(fēng)”和“雨”的隱喻研究上。基于語(yǔ)料,本文試圖通過(guò)對(duì)英漢兩種語(yǔ)言中“冰”與“雪”的隱喻用法進(jìn)行比較研究,具體擬解決以下兩個(gè)問(wèn)題:(1)在英漢兩種語(yǔ)言中,“冰”與“雪”的隱喻各自有何普遍性與差異性?(2)如何從文化認(rèn)知角度來(lái)解釋這些普遍性與差異性?在對(duì)從字典與在線語(yǔ)料庫(kù)收集的語(yǔ)料進(jìn)行分析后,研究的主要發(fā)現(xiàn)如下:(1)人類對(duì)冰、雪的隱喻性構(gòu)建和識(shí)解是通過(guò)始源域和目標(biāo)域之間的一系列特定的映射實(shí)現(xiàn)的。通過(guò)分析,本文在類屬層面概括出了四個(gè)英漢共有的冰概念隱喻,三個(gè)雪概念隱喻。除此之外,本文還確定了一些類屬層面及特定層面具有跨文化差異的冰概念隱喻與雪概念隱喻。(2)在對(duì)“冰”與“雪”隱喻的跨文化普遍性作出解釋時(shí),我們發(fā)現(xiàn):基于人類經(jīng)驗(yàn)事實(shí),英漢存在相似的冰與雪典型認(rèn)知模型,這將激發(fā)出人類跨文化構(gòu)建冰與雪隱喻的潛能。(3)不同的體驗(yàn)經(jīng)驗(yàn)與不同的認(rèn)知偏好共同導(dǎo)致了跨文化的冰隱喻與雪隱喻差異。尤其是不同的冰文化模型與雪文化模型使冰典型認(rèn)知模型和雪典型認(rèn)知模型中的不同方面得以突出,從而導(dǎo)致突顯的冰隱喻與雪隱喻呈現(xiàn)差異。而相同始源域下某些概念的不同認(rèn)知和文化模型造成了屬類層面同一冰隱喻與雪隱喻概念下具體呈現(xiàn)的差異。英漢“冰”、“雪”隱喻的對(duì)比分析有助于探索“冰”、“雪”概念的隱喻構(gòu)建,及其與人類認(rèn)知體驗(yàn)的內(nèi)在關(guān)系。同時(shí)該研究也表明英漢兩種語(yǔ)言中“冰”、“雪”隱喻的相似與差異之處源于人類的認(rèn)知模型與文化模型,對(duì)跨文化交際有一定的啟示意義。
