霍克思《紅樓夢》人物話語翻譯藝術(shù)研究

【摘要】:在現(xiàn)存《紅樓夢》翻譯批評文獻中,存在“詮釋暴力”的問題,“詮釋暴力”是指譯評者忽視研究對象以及其所處的時間,文化,社會背景,從自身局限的認(rèn)知視角去描述翻譯現(xiàn)象,由此產(chǎn)生的錯誤判斷。這一問題致使翻譯批評者在評論有關(guān)翻譯現(xiàn)象時,得出不可信的結(jié)論。因而,為了能夠準(zhǔn)確地描述翻譯現(xiàn)象,本文作者在此項研究中探索出一種《紅樓夢》翻譯批評的優(yōu)化方法。此方法,旨在避免闡釋翻譯現(xiàn)象時可能產(chǎn)生的“詮釋暴力”。此方法的具體過程是:首先,譯評者應(yīng)尋找《紅樓夢》譯者參考的原文版本(因《紅樓夢》原文版本繁雜);原文版本問題搞清楚后,譯評者應(yīng)借助訓(xùn)詁學(xué)的方法分別考察原文和譯文的意義(借助訓(xùn)詁學(xué)旨在避免尋求意義時作出主觀判斷),進而發(fā)現(xiàn)原文和譯文之間的意義關(guān)系和翻譯策略。最后,譯評者應(yīng)運用描述性翻譯批評范式,盡量避免“詮釋暴力”,從語言規(guī)范,文學(xué)規(guī)范或模式,社會,歷史,翻譯主體等角度對翻譯策略展開描述,以此揭示《紅樓夢》翻譯藝術(shù)的本質(zhì)。 本文開始警惕譯評者避免“詮釋暴力”,并提出優(yōu)化后的《紅樓夢》翻譯批評方法,之后,便開始探討霍克思《紅樓夢》人物話語翻譯藝術(shù)。本文作者首先探索霍克思翻譯時所參照的原文版本,因為探尋原文版本是《紅樓夢》翻譯批評的關(guān)鍵和首要任務(wù),在找到霍克思所參照的原文版本后,筆者著重對霍克思譯文中的人物話語展開分析,而這一部分是本文研究的焦點。經(jīng)過對霍克思人物話語翻譯藝術(shù)的分析,筆者得出結(jié)論,認(rèn)為霍克思,通過在語言各個層面的操控,促使譯文中的人物話語比原文中的人物話語更具個性特色,雖然這樣做,在語言層面違背了原文,但卻因為通過話語成功傳達了人物個性,所以廣義上做到了對于原文的忠實。因而,不得不說,霍譯本《紅樓夢》是一次成功的跨文化傳遞,值得譯者的學(xué)習(xí)。 另外,通過此項研究,筆者想證明譯文是語言文學(xué)規(guī)范,社會文化以及社會歷史等因素共同造就的產(chǎn)物。因此,譯評者,在針對某種翻譯現(xiàn)象展開描述時,應(yīng)廣泛考慮社會、歷史、文化、語言、文學(xué)等諸多因素,只有這樣,這種描述才有望更加客觀,合理。
[Abstract]:In the existing translation criticism of A Dream of Red Mansions, there exists the problem of "interpreting violence", which means that the translator neglects the object of study and the time, culture and social background in which it is studied. The translation phenomenon is described from its own limited cognitive perspective, resulting in erroneous judgment. This problem has led critics of translation to draw unreliable conclusions when commenting on translation phenomena. Therefore, in order to describe the translation phenomenon accurately, the author explores an optimized method of translation criticism in A Dream of Red Mansions. The purpose of this method is to avoid the possible "interpretation violence" in interpreting translation phenomena. The process of this method is as follows: first, the translator should look for the original version of "A Dream of Red Mansions" (because the original version of "A Dream of Red Mansions" is complicated; The translator should examine the meaning of the original text and the translation by means of exegetics (the purpose of exegetics is to make a subjective judgment in order to avoid seeking meaning, and then to discover the meaning relationship between the original and the translated text and the translation strategy. Finally, translators should use descriptive translation criticism paradigm to avoid "interpreting violence" and describe translation strategies from the perspectives of language norms, literary norms or models, society, history, translation subject and so on. In this way, the essence of translation art in A Dream of Red Mansions is revealed. This paper begins to guard against translation critics to avoid "interpretation violence", and puts forward the optimized translation criticism method of "A Dream of Red Mansions". After that, it begins to explore the translation art of Hawkes'"Dream of Red Mansions". In this paper, the author first explores the original version which Hawkes refers to in translation, because exploring the original version is the key and primary task of the translation criticism of A Dream of Red Mansions. The author focuses on the analysis of the characters' discourse in Hawkes' translation, which is the focus of this thesis. Based on the analysis of the translation art of Hawkes' character discourse, the author concludes that Hawkes, through manipulation at all levels of language, makes the character discourse in the translation more distinctive than the character discourse in the original text. It violates the original in the linguistic level, but it communicates the character successfully through the discourse, so it is faithful to the original in a broad sense. Therefore, it has to be said that Fok's translation of A Dream of Red Mansions is a successful cross-cultural transmission, which is worthy of the translator's study. In addition, through this study, the author wants to prove that the translation is the product of language and literature norms, social culture and social history. Therefore, translation reviewers should take social, historical, cultural, linguistic and literary factors into account when describing a certain translation phenomenon. Only in this way can the description be expected to be more objective and reasonable.
