隨著篇章語言學(xué)的發(fā)展,段落和語篇已日益成為可供接受的翻譯單位。功能語言學(xué)家韓禮德和哈桑提出語篇銜接理論,將銜接手段分為照應(yīng)、替代、省略、連接和詞匯銜接,該理論注重源文本和目標(biāo)文本在銜接和連貫上的對(duì)等,從而避免機(jī)械式翻譯。這完全符合學(xué)術(shù)文本翻譯的首要原則,即準(zhǔn)確地傳達(dá)原文的信息。同時(shí)銜接理論分類清晰,實(shí)用性強(qiáng),因此有助于指導(dǎo)學(xué)術(shù)文本翻譯。本文以韓禮德和哈桑提出的銜接理論為基礎(chǔ),結(jié)合英漢兩種語言在銜接手段上的差異,以學(xué)術(shù)文本——《健康與疾病的生物心理社會(huì)模型——哲學(xué)與科學(xué)新發(fā)展》(節(jié)選)為材料,分析這五種銜接類型及其在翻譯實(shí)踐中的具體操作模式,以期實(shí)現(xiàn)譯文的通順連貫,而連貫正是銜接的目的。因此,將這些銜接手段應(yīng)用于翻譯過程具有重大實(shí)踐意義。
