信息論視角下的《奧運(yùn)會歷史》(節(jié)選)漢譯實(shí)踐報(bào)告

《奧運(yùn)會歷史》是大衛(wèi)·戈德布拉特的代表作,源文本在國外極具暢銷,講述了奧運(yùn)會的發(fā)展歷史、重大奧運(yùn)會賽事以及運(yùn)動項(xiàng)目的演變歷史。本書共九章,本論文是對第二章“博覽會的所有樂趣所在:‘美好時(shí)代’落幕前的奧運(yùn)會”進(jìn)行的翻譯實(shí)踐報(bào)告。此文本為偏記敘文文體,全文語言記敘說明為主,多為復(fù)雜句長句,亦長短句結(jié)合。在翻譯時(shí),筆者遇到的問題主要有兩種:一種為源文本中大段的長難句,短時(shí)難以分清結(jié)構(gòu),筆者發(fā)現(xiàn)文本中存在很多影響目標(biāo)讀者解碼能力的冗余信息;另一種來源于源文本的跳躍性,上下文之間無明顯銜接詞,文本缺省了許多源文本讀者已知但目標(biāo)讀者不知的背景信息,這些背景信息是應(yīng)當(dāng)存在且必須的冗余。針對翻譯中遇到的第一個(gè)長難句和大量冗余信息的問題,筆者主要采取刪減,壓縮信息的方式,減少文本的冗余度來緩解讀者閱讀的疲勞與煩躁,給予讀者繼續(xù)閱讀的信心與動力;而對于翻譯中遇到的第二個(gè)問題,即源文本中缺省了許多源文本讀者已知但目標(biāo)讀者不知的背景信息,這些背景信息是應(yīng)當(dāng)存在且必須的冗余,筆者主要采取增譯手段,增加文本的冗余度來彌補(bǔ)信息的缺省部分,來提高讀者對信息的解讀能力。當(dāng)然,在主要運(yùn)用增譯和刪減這兩種翻譯技巧之外,不可...
