本文是基于《斷食完全指南》一書的英漢翻譯實踐報告。在翻譯過程中,筆者以奈達的功能對等理論為指導(dǎo),克服了通識醫(yī)學(xué)讀本翻譯的重難點,如醫(yī)學(xué)術(shù)語、長難句、非人稱主語句以及顯性銜接手段等的翻譯。功能對等理論包含四項原則,即詞匯對等、句子對等、語篇對等和文體對等,同時強調(diào)“意義大于形式”,因此譯者只需要“自然地”再現(xiàn)原文的意義,而不必拘泥于形式,這也正是出版公司對該翻譯的要求。從這種意義上講,功能對等理論的確對這本通識醫(yī)學(xué)書籍的翻譯有很強的指導(dǎo)作用,這也體現(xiàn)在譯前準(zhǔn)備工作的相關(guān)文獻綜述中。報告中,筆者運用實例從定性的角度說明功能對等理論如何指導(dǎo)翻譯。另外,筆者借助語料庫工具（包括POS-tagger、NLPIR、AntConc和WordSmith）定量比較原文和譯文,進一步解釋二者之間如何實現(xiàn)對等。同時,該報告給譯者帶來反思。翻譯之前要了解原文的語言特征及翻譯難點。翻譯過程中,如果語言之間的差異使原文和譯文不能完全對等,應(yīng)優(yōu)先考慮意義對等。另外,翻譯之后應(yīng)審校譯文,從而有效提高翻譯能力。
