本文是一篇漢英翻譯實踐報告,原文本選自中國著名考古學家黃景略、葉學明的代表作品《中國的帝王陵》,目前該書還尚未見到英文譯本。本報告選取該書第一、二章進行漢英翻譯,原文共計10182字。所譯部分主要講述了中國帝王陵墓的歷史、總體特征以及黃帝陵的具體情況。在本報告中,譯者首先介紹了該翻譯項目的背景、目的和意義,其次從詞匯和句法層面分析了在翻譯過程中遇到的難點以及相對應的翻譯方法。譯者在翻譯過程中,遇到專有名詞、文化負載詞、詞義不對等現象較多等問題。漢語和英語具有不同的句法特征和文化差異,同時原文中有大量的典籍、典故的引用,這些都給譯者的翻譯帶來了困難。針對這些難點,譯者在詞匯方面運用了注釋、省略、轉換等方法,句法層面采取了斷句譯法、縮句譯法、轉態(tài)譯法等方法。陵墓文化是中國文化的重要組成部分。此次實踐報告在忠實原文的基礎上,力求從讀者角度出發(fā),希望為原文本的英譯本提供參考,同時促進中國文化的對外傳播。
