本翻譯實(shí)踐報(bào)告是基于《英、美、愛文學(xué)史》中美國(guó)文學(xué)史的第六章而寫,這一部分主要闡述美國(guó)文學(xué)史的發(fā)展過程。該書作者是漢斯·彼得·瓦格納,書籍于2003年出版,并與2010年得到修訂。翻譯報(bào)告原文基于最新版。該書是一本學(xué)術(shù)著作,內(nèi)容包含了英國(guó)文學(xué)史、美國(guó)文學(xué)史以及愛爾蘭文學(xué)史,原書作者對(duì)這三個(gè)國(guó)家的文學(xué)發(fā)展做了系統(tǒng)、詳實(shí)的闡述,并向讀者介紹了主要作家及各自具有深遠(yuǎn)影響的作品。全書共580頁,30多萬字,英國(guó)文學(xué)和愛爾蘭文學(xué)已由其他譯者完成,筆者本次翻譯部分約1.2萬字,主要內(nèi)容包括美國(guó)文學(xué)的通俗小說和科幻小說。本報(bào)告以著名翻譯理論家尤金·奈達(dá)（Eugene A.Nida）提出的功能對(duì)等理論為主要指導(dǎo)。因?yàn)樵次谋臼顷P(guān)于文史的信息文本,以描述客觀事實(shí)為主。所以,譯者應(yīng)采用忠實(shí)的翻譯理論,使譯文更接近原文。能夠指導(dǎo)這類文本的翻譯理論有很多,例如彼得·紐馬克的交際翻譯理論,該理論以為目的語讀者傳遞信息為主。由于原文多處涉及到與文化有關(guān)的翻譯,并與導(dǎo)師對(duì)文本內(nèi)容整體分析和討論后,筆者選擇了另一種更適合的理論——功能對(duì)等理論。功能對(duì)等是指翻譯時(shí)不是文字表面的一一對(duì)應(yīng),而是在源語和目的語兩種語言間達(dá)成功...
