【摘要】：據(jù)統(tǒng)計,"can"是情態(tài)范疇內(nèi)使用頻率最高的情態(tài)詞。作為多義詞,情態(tài)詞從最初的實詞演變?yōu)檎Z法功能詞,經(jīng)歷了一系列演變。然而,對"can"是否已經(jīng)演變?yōu)檎J識情態(tài)尚未達成共識。文章以多個語料庫為基礎(chǔ),運用斷代的歷時研究方法,立足于現(xiàn)代英語時期,從語義和認知角度探究"can"的語法化歷程以及演變機制。通過研究證實了"can"已經(jīng)廣泛用于判斷命題的真實性。
[Abstract]:According to statistics, "can" is the most frequently used modal word in the category of modality. As polysemous words, modal words have evolved from the original real words to grammatical functional words, and have experienced a series of evolution. However, there is no consensus on whether can has evolved into cognitive modality. Based on several corpus, this paper explores the grammaticalization process and evolution mechanism of "can" from the semantic and cognitive point of view, based on the diachronic research method of dating and based on the modern English period. Through the research, it is confirmed that "can" has been widely used to judge the authenticity of propositions.
