[Abstract]:On the basis of historical data and literature, this paper demonstrates that the word "jasmine" originates from Sanskrit, while the English word "corresponding" jasmine and other approximate words in western languages come from Persian. On this basis, this paper further studies that jasmine in Chinese and jasmine in English are not exactly the same plants. The commonly referred to as "jasmine" is a kind of flower introduced into China from South Asia (ancient India). Jasmine- refers to a kind of flower that came to China from Persia through the Silk Road. The ancient translation is "Yeshi Ming" and the modern name is "Suxin". However, many English-Chinese (Chinese-English) dictionaries fail to clearly distinguish jasmine from jasmine, and confuse them in general terms. The author suggests that the translation and academic circles should pay attention to and correct this phenomenon.
