《新舊中國—三十年的個人回憶和觀察》(第五章和第六章)翻譯實踐報告

【摘要】:《新舊中國——三十年的個人回憶和觀察》是一部出自英國傳教士幕雅德的回憶錄。1861年至1890年,他在中國從事傳教工作。通過在中國三十年的傳教經(jīng)歷,幕雅德親眼目睹了太平天國運動歷史事件并參與了反鴉片活動。幕雅德與中國各階層人士往來交流,記錄了所見所聞,深入研究了中國社會,以英國傳教士的視角介紹了他對晚清中國的觀察評論。這本回憶錄展現(xiàn)了一幅真實的晚清中國社會畫面,表現(xiàn)出廣泛的社會性。它是具有重大歷史價值的史料文獻,為讀者探索晚清社會提供了第一手資料。本篇翻譯實踐報告是基于《新舊中國——三十年的個人回憶和觀察》一書第五章和第六章的翻譯過程寫成。筆者承擔(dān)的是這本回憶錄第五章到第六章內(nèi)容的翻譯任務(wù)。在第五章中,幕雅德近距離接觸了一位地方官員,觀察了這位官員的家庭背景、生活經(jīng)歷、個性特征與宗教取向,反映了晚清社會的真實特性。第六章著重探討佛教與道教如何影響中國人的生活,內(nèi)容涉及中國儒家經(jīng)典、宗教迷信、宗教活動以及傳統(tǒng)禮儀。筆者以金杽等效論為指導(dǎo)進行翻譯實踐活動。該理論強調(diào)了接受者概念,效果概念以及對等概念這三個概念。在金杽等效論指導(dǎo)下,筆者靈活地采取有效的翻譯策略,通過案例,筆者具體地討論了詞語和句子的翻譯,力求譯文地道精準。本報告總結(jié)了本次翻譯實踐中的寶貴經(jīng)驗,分析了其中存在的問題,列舉了有待解決的問題,并指出了努力方向。筆者希望本次翻譯實踐是我們進行晚清歷史研究的重要史學(xué)材料。
[Abstract]:"New and Old China-Thirty years of personal memory and observation" is a memoir by British missionary Missionary Curield, who worked as a missionary in China from 1861 to 1890. Through his three decades of missionary experience in China, he witnessed the historical events of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement and participated in anti-opium activities. Muyad exchanged views with people from all walks of life in China, recorded what he had seen and heard, studied Chinese society in depth, and introduced his observation and comments on China in the late Qing Dynasty from the perspective of British missionaries. This memoir shows a true picture of the Chinese society in the late Qing Dynasty, showing a wide range of sociality. It is a historical document of great historical value and provides first-hand information for readers to explore the late Qing society. This translation practice report is based on the translation process of chapters 5 and 6 of "New and Old China-30 years of personal recollection and observation". The author is responsible for the translation of chapters 5 to 6 of this memoir. In the fifth chapter, Muyad came into close contact with a local official and observed the official's family background, life experience, personality and religious orientation, reflecting the real characteristics of the late Qing society. Chapter six focuses on how Buddhism and Taoism affect the life of Chinese people, including Chinese Confucian classics, religious superstition, religious activities and traditional rituals. The author conducts translation practice under the guidance of Jin's equivalence theory. The theory emphasizes three concepts: receiver concept, effect concept and equivalence concept. Under the guidance of Jin's equivalence theory, the author adopts flexible and effective translation strategies. Through the case study, the author discusses the translation of words and sentences in detail in order to achieve the accuracy of the target text. This report summarizes the valuable experience in translation practice, analyzes the existing problems, enumerates the problems to be solved, and points out the direction of efforts. The author hopes that this translation practice is an important historical material for us to study the history of the late Qing Dynasty.
