英語(yǔ)人力資本與員工工資——來(lái)自2015年“中國(guó)企業(yè)—員工匹配調(diào)查”的經(jīng)驗(yàn)證據(jù)

【摘要】:語(yǔ)言經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)的經(jīng)驗(yàn)證據(jù)表明,語(yǔ)言能力作為一種重要的人力資本能為勞動(dòng)力帶來(lái)經(jīng)濟(jì)上的回報(bào)。相關(guān)研究較多地關(guān)注發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家和地區(qū)的移民群體,對(duì)發(fā)展中國(guó)家勞動(dòng)力的研究則不多見(jiàn)。對(duì)于我國(guó)這樣一個(gè)實(shí)行單語(yǔ)政策的發(fā)展中大國(guó),探討員工外語(yǔ)能力的工資回報(bào)具有重要的現(xiàn)實(shí)意義,但由于國(guó)內(nèi)相關(guān)文獻(xiàn)數(shù)據(jù)的滯后性,分析結(jié)果不能較好地反映我國(guó)當(dāng)下的實(shí)情。文章基于2015年"中國(guó)企業(yè)—員工匹配調(diào)查"(CEES)的最新一手?jǐn)?shù)據(jù),在Mincer方程的基礎(chǔ)上控制了企業(yè)層面可觀測(cè)和不可觀測(cè)的因素,采用普通最小二乘法(OLS)、工具變量法(IV)、傾向得分匹配(PSM)等識(shí)別策略,實(shí)證分析發(fā)現(xiàn)英語(yǔ)綜合能力、聽(tīng)說(shuō)能力和閱讀能力對(duì)員工小時(shí)工資都具有顯著的正向因果效應(yīng)。平均而言,具備英語(yǔ)綜合能力、聽(tīng)說(shuō)能力與閱讀能力的員工的工資分別高出不具備這些能力的員工14.6%-18.6%、20.5%-27.9%和25.9%-35.8%。基于此,文章建議:重視對(duì)商務(wù)英語(yǔ)職業(yè)培訓(xùn)的投資,培養(yǎng)員工跨文化交際能力和英語(yǔ)交流能力;協(xié)調(diào)好英語(yǔ)教育改革中通用英語(yǔ)(EGP)和專門用途英語(yǔ)(ESP)的關(guān)系,著重提高學(xué)生的綜合語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用能力;適當(dāng)減少高校英語(yǔ)必修課中的純語(yǔ)言學(xué)教育,鼓勵(lì)高等學(xué)校尤其是高等職業(yè)技術(shù)學(xué)校發(fā)展專門用途英語(yǔ)教育。
[Abstract]:Empirical evidence in linguistic economics shows that language competence as an important human capital can bring economic returns to the labor force. The related studies focus more on the immigrant groups in developed countries and regions, but less on the labor force in developing countries. For China, a developing country with monolingual policy, it is of great practical significance to explore the wage return of employees' foreign language competence. However, due to the lag of domestic literature and data, The results of the analysis can not reflect the reality of our country at present. Based on the latest primary data from the 2015 China Enterprise-employee matching Survey, the paper controls the observable and unobservable factors at the enterprise level based on the Mincer equation. By using common least squares method, tool variable method and tendency score matching strategy, the empirical analysis shows that English comprehensive ability, listening and speaking ability and reading ability have significant positive causality effect on employees' hourly wage. On average, employees with comprehensive English proficiency, listening and speaking ability and reading ability were paid more than those who did not have these abilities, respectively, and 20.5- 27.9percent and 25.9- 35.8percent, respectively. Based on this, the paper suggests that we should pay more attention to the investment in business English vocational training, train the staff's cross-cultural communicative competence and English communication ability, and coordinate the relationship between the common English language (EGP) and ESPs in the reform of English education. Emphasis is placed on improving students' comprehensive language use ability, reducing the pure linguistic education in English compulsory courses in colleges and universities, and encouraging institutions of higher learning, especially higher vocational and technical schools, to develop special purpose English education.
