翻譯美學(xué)視角下許淵沖《論語》英譯本評析

【摘要】:《論語》是中國儒家學(xué)派的經(jīng)典之作,主要記錄了孔子及其弟子的言行,較為集中地反映了孔子的思想,深刻影響了中華民族的精神和文化!墩撜Z》是被詮釋和翻譯最多的中國典籍,其在世界范圍內(nèi)的影響力也是無可比擬的。孔子學(xué)院的興起及蓬勃發(fā)展,更彰顯了其至關(guān)重要的地位!墩撜Z》之所以經(jīng)久不衰,離不開其高度的美學(xué)價值。隨著翻譯的跨學(xué)科性被學(xué)界認(rèn)可,美學(xué)也重新回歸學(xué)者研究視野。翻譯美學(xué)運(yùn)用成熟的理論依據(jù)與科學(xué)的研究方法,實(shí)現(xiàn)了翻譯科學(xué)性與藝術(shù)性的完美融合。劉宓慶初步構(gòu)建了現(xiàn)代翻譯美學(xué)的基本框架,指出翻譯的本體論歸屬是美學(xué),強(qiáng)調(diào)以語言審美為基本任務(wù),以審美再現(xiàn)為最終目的,注重移情在翻譯審美再現(xiàn)中的作用。《論語》英譯視角多以哲學(xué)與語言學(xué)為主,鮮有從審美角度進(jìn)行的研究。本文以劉宓慶的翻譯美學(xué)為理論框架,以審美再現(xiàn)為切入點(diǎn),從形式系統(tǒng)中的語音、詞語和句子以及非形式系統(tǒng)中的情感、意象和意境出發(fā),對許淵沖的《論語》英譯本進(jìn)行分析研究,探討其審美再現(xiàn)的翻譯方法和策略。通過實(shí)例分析發(fā)現(xiàn):形式系統(tǒng)的審美再現(xiàn),以模仿原文語篇模式為出發(fā)點(diǎn),充分發(fā)揮譯語優(yōu)勢,采用審美補(bǔ)償手段,主要包括替代式、解釋式與創(chuàng)造式;非形式系統(tǒng)的審美再現(xiàn),以原文的情志、意旨為立足點(diǎn),以“物我合一”為最終目標(biāo),克服審美移情障礙,主要包括時空障礙與文化障礙。研究的創(chuàng)新點(diǎn)在于,譯本分析涉及到語言微觀的各個層面和審美模糊集,其中詞匯層面細(xì)分為含有修辭手段的詞匯,以及《論語》中的核心概念詞,使得譯本評析透徹完整,更具說服力。本文以劉宓慶的翻譯美學(xué)理論為指導(dǎo),研究對象為中國典籍代表作—《論語》具有鮮明的中國特色。首次對許氏譯本進(jìn)行了系統(tǒng)的分析研究,拓寬了《論語》英譯本研究的廣度,旨在為提高《論語》英譯質(zhì)量提供新的啟示,為中國典籍英譯提供參考,更好地實(shí)現(xiàn)中國文化“走出去”戰(zhàn)略。
[Abstract]:The Analects of Confucius is a classic work of the Confucian School of China. It mainly records the words and deeds of Confucius and his disciples, and reflects Confucius' thoughts more intensively. Deeply influenced the spirit and culture of the Chinese nation. The Analects of Confucius is the most interpreted and translated Chinese classics, and its influence in the world is also unparalleled. The rise and vigorous development of Confucius Institutes, The Analects of Analects of Confucius cannot survive without its high aesthetic value. With the interdisciplinary nature of translation has been recognized by the academic community, Aesthetics also returns to the perspective of scholars. Translation aesthetics uses mature theoretical basis and scientific research methods to realize the perfect fusion of translation science and artistry. Liu Miqing initially constructs the basic framework of modern translation aesthetics. It is pointed out that the ontological attribution of translation is aesthetics, which emphasizes that language aesthetics is the basic task, aesthetic representation as the ultimate goal, and the role of empathy in translation aesthetic representation. The perspective of English translation is mainly from the perspective of philosophy and linguistics. Few studies have been carried out from an aesthetic point of view. This thesis takes Liu Miqing's translation aesthetics as the theoretical framework and aesthetic representation as the breakthrough point, starting from the phonetic, lexical and sentence aspects in the formal system and the emotion, imagery and artistic conception in the non-formal system. This paper makes an analysis of Xu Yuanchong's English translation of the Analects of Confucius and probes into the translation methods and strategies of his aesthetic reproduction. Through the analysis of examples, it is found that the aesthetic representation of the formal system is based on imitating the model of the original text and giving full play to the advantages of the target language. The aesthetic compensation means mainly include substitution, explanation and creation, the aesthetic reappearance of non-formal system is based on the emotion and intention of the original text, and the ultimate goal is "the unity of things and ourselves" to overcome the obstacles of aesthetic empathy. The innovation of the study is that the translation analysis involves the micro level of language and the set of aesthetic vagueness, in which the lexical level is subdivided into words with rhetorical devices. And the core concept words in Analects of Confucius, which make the translation analysis complete and more persuasive. This paper is guided by Liu Miqing's translation aesthetics theory. The research object is the representative work of Chinese classics-the Analects of Analects, which has distinct Chinese characteristics. For the first time, a systematic analysis of Xu's translation has been carried out, which has widened the scope of the study on the English version of the Analects of Confucius. The purpose of this paper is to provide new enlightenment for improving the translation quality of Analects of Confucius into English, to provide reference for the English translation of Chinese classics, and to better realize the strategy of "going global" in Chinese culture.
