在英國文學(xué)史上,塞繆爾·約翰遜是一位在文學(xué)成就與聲望方面可與莎士比亞比肩的作家。約翰遜的作品涉及詩歌、小說、戲劇、散文、游記、文學(xué)評論等方方面面。十八世紀(jì)以來,國內(nèi)外學(xué)者對他的研究一直持續(xù)至今。通過對國內(nèi)外約翰遜研究的現(xiàn)狀分析,筆者發(fā)現(xiàn)鮮有學(xué)者涉及約翰遜作品中的帝國意識。本論文基于愛德華·賽義德的后殖民理論,結(jié)合十八世紀(jì)英國社會(huì)現(xiàn)狀,試圖探究其作品中反映的帝國意識。希望本研究能夠在一定程度上拓展約翰遜研究的維度,從而推進(jìn)人們對英帝國的形成過程的認(rèn)識。論文共分為七個(gè)部分。緒論部分介紹了約翰遜生平及其作品。在對國內(nèi)外約翰遜研究現(xiàn)狀進(jìn)行梳理的基礎(chǔ)上,提出現(xiàn)有研究的不足之處,進(jìn)而闡述本論文研究方法和理論框架。第一章立足于約翰遜有關(guān)語言的相關(guān)著述,尤其是其《詞典編纂方案》和其為詞典所作的《序言》,基于相關(guān)學(xué)者對語言與帝國關(guān)系的研究,并結(jié)合當(dāng)時(shí)的社會(huì)語境,探討約翰遜潛在于作品中的帝國意識。該章節(jié)借助有關(guān)語言與帝國關(guān)系的相關(guān)學(xué)說,考察當(dāng)時(shí)英語語言的腐化,以及約翰遜對此的憂慮,從而凸顯了他的帝國意識。通過《詞典編纂方案》和《序言》的發(fā)表,特別是其編寫詞典所付出的艱苦努力,約翰遜贏得了同胞的認(rèn)可,同時(shí)也...
