【摘要】:譜碑是刻有宗族譜系信息的石質(zhì)媒體,以其內(nèi)容形成的所謂碑譜,是中國譜牒發(fā)展的特殊類型和階段性產(chǎn)物。魯中山地民間現(xiàn)存豐富的碑譜文獻(xiàn),為研究山東宗族乃至華北宗族提供了新的史料;不但有助于深化譜牒學(xué)研究,而且冀望對宗族地域化探索作出有益補(bǔ)充。本文即圍繞宋元以來的魯中山地譜碑展開討論,分別從其演變與分布、制度與功能等角度,說明其作為一種宗族譜牒載體的歷史價(jià)值;揭示譜碑與當(dāng)?shù)刈谧灏l(fā)展的關(guān)系,探尋魯中宗族形成的路徑和地域性特征。魯中山地是華北地區(qū)重要的文化板塊,也是歷史上宗族形態(tài)演變最為激烈的地帶。頻繁的社會(huì)動(dòng)亂和自然災(zāi)害造成了族人的離散和世系的斷裂,也使宗族結(jié)構(gòu)呈現(xiàn)出系譜性和禮儀性的特征。而層累的儒家孝道倫理、石刻碑記傳統(tǒng)以及長期的移民開發(fā)歷史,又為宗族選擇譜碑準(zhǔn)備了文化上條件。從文獻(xiàn)和田野調(diào)查的數(shù)據(jù)來看,譜碑是華北富有特色的宗族物質(zhì)文化,因其主要集中于山東的魯中地區(qū),而成為反映當(dāng)?shù)刈谧逵^念和組織形態(tài)的重要資料。宋元以來,譜碑在北方地區(qū)廣為流行,既是宗族譜牒的特殊載體,又承擔(dān)著墓祭和收族的功能。最早的譜碑與漢唐時(shí)期的誄碑和墓志有著淵源關(guān)系,金元之交出現(xiàn)了各種刻有世系圖表的墓碑,并最終演變?yōu)槭ベt家族和軍功家族的“宗派之圖”碑。明清時(shí)期,譜碑逐漸確立了成熟文體規(guī)范,而在北方地區(qū)的鄉(xiāng)村社會(huì)普及起來。根據(jù)宗族的世系學(xué)表達(dá)方式,譜碑可分為大宗譜碑、小宗譜碑、支譜碑以及各種變異形式。這種碑刻譜牒略同于紙質(zhì)譜,具有譜序和世系這兩大核心要素。譜序內(nèi)容包括宗族來源、遷徙和支派分布,世系關(guān)系則用表格或線圖表示。碑譜序文中的譜學(xué)思想和宗族觀念,既來源于宋儒所宣揚(yáng)的敬祖收族的宗法意識(shí),也來源于當(dāng)?shù)毓逃械淖嫦瘸绨莺湍辜蓝Y俗。碑譜世系的主要篩選原則是以祖塋為基點(diǎn),以村落為范圍,記錄父系世系中的男性成員。魯中宗族通過這種特殊媒介的譜牒延續(xù)世系記錄,傳承墓祭儀式,組織宗族活動(dòng),實(shí)現(xiàn)了父系世系的團(tuán)體化。譜碑對于魯中山地宗族的組織化和地域化有著特殊的意義。以“宗派之圖”為代表的元代譜碑,是漢人從祖先崇拜向宗族意識(shí)過渡的產(chǎn)物。元代宗族已經(jīng)從儒學(xué)的理想狀態(tài)轉(zhuǎn)化為現(xiàn)實(shí)的生活團(tuán)體,代表著北方宗族庶民化的最終完成。明清時(shí)期,“宗派之圖”碑演變?yōu)閷iT記錄宗族歷史和父系世系的譜碑。鄉(xiāng)村宗族普遍以祖塋為核心,利用譜碑恢復(fù)并整理世系記錄,重新構(gòu)建了各自的祭祀團(tuán)體。由于宗族組織的禮儀功能遠(yuǎn)大于社會(huì)經(jīng)濟(jì)功能,宗族與地方社會(huì)呈現(xiàn)出一種脫離關(guān)系。在魯中山地的村落中,宗族形態(tài)以雜居為主。不同的宗族以家庭為單位,和諧共處于同一個(gè)社區(qū)之中,形成穩(wěn)定的村落共同體。
