University libraries in China fall behind foreign university libraries in aspects of the organization and system construction, promotion range, fund supports and service model innovation. Therefore, university libraries should take some strategies for promoting reading activities, such as constructing the long-term development mechanism of reading promotion, enlarging the range of reading promotion, establishing foundations or cooperative associations widely, making full use of advanced media technologies and means to keep reading promotion activities lively.
