So promoting reading among children is of great significance. It has low cost and far-reaching influence. The degrees of concern over children reflect overall arrangement on the issues relating to a country’s development and a nation’s future. In western countries, children reading is promoted by government and has become a breakthrough to popularize reading among general public. The article elaborates the significance of children reading and peculiar characteristic, analyzes the current situation and problems in reading promotion, put forward suggestions for public libraries to promote reading and consider the issue comprehensively and strategically.
