“麗貝卡”歸來(lái):浪漫小說(shuō)范式的經(jīng)典化

隨著文化研究的發(fā)展,通俗小說(shuō)逐漸成為當(dāng)代文學(xué)批評(píng)的焦點(diǎn)之一。本文分析了經(jīng)典通俗小說(shuō)《蝴蝶夢(mèng)》與其兩個(gè)重寫(xiě)本——《德溫特夫人》、《另一位麗貝卡》。這三個(gè)文本繼承并顛覆和發(fā)展著女性文學(xué)傳統(tǒng),不但確保了浪漫小說(shuō)持久的吸引力,同時(shí)也反映了文化研究中通俗小說(shuō)地位上升的事實(shí)。本文還進(jìn)一步挖掘浪漫小說(shuō)所包含的政治意義。男女關(guān)系一直是文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的一個(gè)重要主題,而以作品包含的性別價(jià)值觀念為衡量標(biāo)準(zhǔn),區(qū)分女性創(chuàng)作與男性文學(xué)則是女性主義和性別研究理論發(fā)展的結(jié)果。伊夫·科索夫斯基·塞奇威克(EveKosofsky Sedgwick)認(rèn)為男-女-男三角關(guān)系旨在維護(hù)父權(quán)社會(huì)男性中心地位。在此基礎(chǔ)上,戴安娜·華萊士(Diana Wallace)突出了女性作品中以構(gòu)建女性主體為目標(biāo)的女-男-女三角關(guān)系。在這個(gè)關(guān)系中,女性為獲得男性的愛(ài)和獨(dú)立的主體性而彼此斗爭(zhēng)。《蝴蝶夢(mèng)》及其兩個(gè)重寫(xiě)文本探索了此類女性關(guān)系對(duì)不同的女性主體以及男性主體構(gòu)建機(jī)制,并以此與男性文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)抗衡爭(zhēng)取權(quán)利,倡導(dǎo)對(duì)男性、女性主體的同等尊重和對(duì)世界多樣性的寬容。在當(dāng)代文化研究的背景下,通俗作品和高雅文學(xué)的傳統(tǒng)界定逐漸模糊,出現(xiàn)了文學(xué)經(jīng)典和理論經(jīng)典并存于文學(xué)...
