后殖民女性主義視野下的《女勇士》

湯亭亭[Maxine Hong Kingston 1940-]被認(rèn)為是在歐洲、北美、澳洲三地?fù)碛凶x者最多、入選文集及教材最多的當(dāng)代美國作家。她的三部獲獎(jiǎng)小說《女勇士》(The Woman Warrior,1976)、《中國男人》(China Men,1980)和《孫行者》(Tripmaster Monkey,1987)已經(jīng)成為美國文學(xué)的經(jīng)典。這三部垂范之作,為一代美國亞裔作家開拓了文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的基本主題。而作為湯亭亭開山之作及成名作的《女勇士》更是被克林頓贊譽(yù)為“一部劃時(shí)代的作品”。它不僅標(biāo)志著華裔文學(xué)在美國主流文學(xué)史上占有一席之地的開始,更吹響了華裔女性作家用手中的筆向權(quán)威作斗爭的號角。本文從美國歷史上華人婦女形象常被扭曲和刻板化的情況出發(fā),在對《女勇士》進(jìn)行系統(tǒng)細(xì)致的文本分析的基礎(chǔ)上,以女性形象為貫穿全文的線索,運(yùn)用后殖民女性主義理論從《女勇士》中女性弱者的失語狀態(tài)、女勇士對父權(quán)、夫權(quán)以及帝國主義文化霸權(quán)的反抗、女勇士的或死或生、死而后生的英雄形象三個(gè)方面揭示了《女勇士》的寫作不僅沒有淪為西方話語的同謀者,反而顛覆了西方中心主義統(tǒng)治下的東方主義話語,再現(xiàn)了中國女性英雄傳統(tǒng),為新時(shí)代女性...
