西奧多·德萊塞(Theodore Dreiser,1871-1945)是美國(guó)19世紀(jì)末20世紀(jì)上半葉現(xiàn)實(shí)主義的重要代表,他首創(chuàng)一代現(xiàn)實(shí)主義文風(fēng),被稱(chēng)為美國(guó)20世紀(jì)文壇之魂。德萊塞一生共寫(xiě)了8部長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō),4部短篇小說(shuō)集,2部戲劇集,3部政論集,以及傳記與散文。他的作品對(duì)美國(guó)20世紀(jì)的社會(huì)面貌作了集中的,典型的,深刻的,現(xiàn)實(shí)主義的描寫(xiě),大膽揭露了資本主義制度下人類(lèi)精神畸變和社會(huì)邪惡的黑暗現(xiàn)實(shí),以及金錢(qián)至上的美國(guó)生活方式對(duì)人的普遍性,罪惡性的腐蝕與毒害,奠定了20世紀(jì)美國(guó)新時(shí)代文學(xué)創(chuàng)作思想和創(chuàng)作原則的基礎(chǔ)。 從二十世紀(jì)三十年代直到如今,西方新馬克思主義思潮所關(guān)注的熱點(diǎn)問(wèn)題之一是“異化”問(wèn)題。近些年來(lái),我國(guó)的哲學(xué)界對(duì)西方馬克思主義的理論研究也越來(lái)越重視,并取得了顯著成果。在這一時(shí)代背景下,本文從馬克思主義異化理論的角度,闡釋德萊塞小說(shuō)作品的主題意蘊(yùn),試尋找解讀德萊塞小說(shuō)的適切途徑。 本文在仔細(xì)閱讀德萊塞小說(shuō)原作的基礎(chǔ)上,通過(guò)追溯西方馬克思主義異化概念的提出與演變,將馬克思主義異化理論引入德萊塞研究以揭示其作品的主題意蘊(yùn)。文章主要從異化理論內(nèi)容中的勞動(dòng)者和勞動(dòng)產(chǎn)品之間的異化,勞動(dòng)者同勞動(dòng)活動(dòng)的異化,勞動(dòng)者同其類(lèi)本質(zhì)的異化和人與人之間的關(guān)系在勞動(dòng)中的異化這四個(gè)方面,對(duì)德萊塞的《嘉莉妹妹》,《珍妮姑娘》,《美國(guó)的悲劇》這三部小說(shuō)中所表現(xiàn)的金錢(qián)觀、消費(fèi)觀、道德觀主題進(jìn)行分析。論文揭示在高度物質(zhì)文明的資本主義制度下,金錢(qián)社會(huì)所產(chǎn)生的人類(lèi)精神畸變和社會(huì)邪惡,外部拜金主義生活方式的腐蝕,以及內(nèi)在個(gè)人私欲的驅(qū)使,使得人與人之間的各種社會(huì)關(guān)系最終也就通過(guò)貨幣這種“物”表現(xiàn)出來(lái),人失去了自我,人成了機(jī)器,人成了物,成了被種種社會(huì)現(xiàn)實(shí)所異化的非人,喪失了自我的主體意識(shí)。從馬克思主義異化理論角度揭示資本主義社會(huì)制度的腐朽以及美國(guó)生活方式的糜爛,對(duì)我們當(dāng)今建設(shè)和諧社會(huì)具有一定的啟示與教育意義。
