論賽珍珠創(chuàng)作中的人道主義思想

【摘要】:美國著名女作家賽珍珠,其生活與創(chuàng)作均與中國有著密切的關(guān)聯(lián),既受中國文化的影響,又畢生專注于用英語創(chuàng)作有關(guān)中國的文學(xué)作品,促進(jìn)中西文化的交流與理解,致力于消除西方人對中國的偏見。觀其畢生的創(chuàng)作與社會活動,人道主義是其重要的指引;然而,因多方面原因,賽珍珠的人道主義思想雖為學(xué)界所公認(rèn),,但卻沒有受到研究者足夠的重視。二十世紀(jì)以來的人道主義思想,與啟蒙運(yùn)動至維多利亞時期的人道主義,本就有所區(qū)別,而特殊的雙語環(huán)境和女性身份又使得賽珍珠作品中所體現(xiàn)的人道主義思想具有獨(dú)到之處。本文試圖通過分析賽珍珠的主要文學(xué)作品的文本與具體歷史材料,找出賽珍珠的人道主義與傳統(tǒng)人道主義思想的契合以及不同之處,并找出賽珍珠的人道主義在全球化的今天,對人類跨越民族、階級、性別和價值觀念,以增進(jìn)互相理解的現(xiàn)實(shí)意義。 經(jīng)歷了兩次世界大戰(zhàn)和接連不斷的小規(guī)模戰(zhàn)爭之后,人類社會在二十世紀(jì)面臨著一場信仰危機(jī):我們是誰?我們該往何處去?這兩個問題,是許多關(guān)心“人道”話題的智者熱衷討論的話題,也是長久以來西方人道主義思想關(guān)注的核心。賽珍珠的作品中體現(xiàn)出的對于弱者的同情、憐憫,以及對于博愛、平等、自由等理想的追求,首先便是對西方文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)中人道主義思想的繼承與發(fā)揚(yáng),而以《大地》三部曲、《母親》、《東風(fēng)·西風(fēng)》為首的一批“中國小說”,以人性的眼光、跨越文化、地域、種族的思想,更為西方世界讀者展現(xiàn)了一群除了外貌之外,在諸多方面與他們幾乎完全一樣的中國“人”的形象,在西方世界造成了很大影響,也在一定程度上,消除了西方人對中國人錯誤的和敵對的想象。而《龍子》一文關(guān)于戰(zhàn)爭造成人性扭曲的描述,以及戰(zhàn)爭對于“人性”的辯證意義的反思,更體現(xiàn)了賽珍珠的人道主義與二十世紀(jì)西方人道主義思想的契合!稏|風(fēng)·西風(fēng)》中所弘揚(yáng)的文化與種族融合的理想,又為人類大家庭的美好未來展現(xiàn)了一幅滿懷希望的圖景。 然而,除了與西方主流人道主義主題的契合之外,女性身份以及中國文化的影響又在賽珍珠的作品中留下了追求女性個體身份和價值實(shí)現(xiàn),以及人道服從于天道等思想的痕跡。賽珍珠筆下以往為讀者和學(xué)者視為負(fù)面角色、或受害者角色的女性,如阿蘭,實(shí)際上也體現(xiàn)了女性的覺醒,以及女性對于自由、平等,甚至權(quán)力的渴望與追求。而《大地》中王龍對于大地的熱愛以及大地對王龍的回報,《龍子》中林郯談?wù)摰奶斓琅c日寇逆天道而行造成的人禍,以及英譯《水滸傳》中贊頌的“替天行道”的思想,都是賽珍珠向西方世界傳遞的中國智慧中所蘊(yùn)含的對于宇宙中人的處境與前途的訊息。 雖然賽珍珠創(chuàng)作的時代距離我們已經(jīng)超過半個世紀(jì),但是賽珍珠的人道主義思想對于當(dāng)今的時代仍然有著重大的指導(dǎo)和借鑒意義。
[Abstract]:The famous American female writer Pearl Buck, whose life and creation are closely related to China, not only influenced by Chinese culture, but also devoted to writing Chinese literary works in English, promoting the exchange and understanding of Chinese and Western cultures, and trying to eliminate the prejudice of Westerners to China. However, the humanitarian thought of Pearl S. Buck has been recognized by the academic community for many reasons, but it has not been paid enough attention by the researchers. Since twentieth Century, the humanitarianism thought is different from the humanitarianism in the period of the enlightenment to Vitoria, and the special bilingual environment and female identity. It also makes the humanitarianism embodied in Pearl Buck's works unique. This article tries to find out the correspondence and differences between the humanitarianism and the traditional humanitarianism by analyzing the text and the concrete historical materials of Pearl S. Buck's main literary works, and to find out the humanitarianism of Pearl S. Buck in the present globalization. Heaven, for mankind, transcends nationality, class, gender and values to enhance mutual understanding.
After two world wars and successive small wars, the human society faced a crisis of belief in twentieth Century: who are we? Where should we go? These two questions are the topics of the wise people who are concerned about the "humanitarian" topic, and the core of the long-term concern of the western humanitarian thought. In the works of Pearl Buck, sympathy, pity, and ideal pursuit of love, equality and freedom are embodied in his works. First, it is the inheritance and development of humanitarian thought in the western literary tradition, and a series of "Chinese Novels" headed by the "earth > Trilogy", "mother >", "east wind and west wind". The western world readers have shown a group of Chinese "human" images that are almost exactly the same as they are in many respects, which have caused great influence in the western world and, to a certain extent, eliminate the wrong and hostile imagination of the Westerners to the Chinese. The description of the distortion of adult sex and the reflection of the dialectical significance of war to the "human nature" reflect the combination of humanitarianism and the humanitarian thought of the West in the twentieth Century. The ideal of cultural and racial integration carried forward in the east wind and the west wind shows a great hope for the good future of the human family. The picture.
However, in addition to the combination of the mainstream humanitarian themes in the west, the identity of women and the influence of Chinese culture left the traces of the pursuit of the individual identity and value of women and the obedience of humanitarianism to the nature of the Tao in Pearl S. Buck. Women, such as Alan, actually embody the awakening of women, and the desire and pursuit of women for freedom, equality and even power. Although the time of Pearl Buck's creation is more than half a century, Pearl Buck's humanitarianism still has great guidance and reference for today's time.
