【摘要】：西奧多·德萊賽是二十世紀(jì)美國文學(xué)史上杰出的作家之一,他的第一部小說《嘉莉妹妹》一直被譽(yù)為美國小說中一座具有歷史意義的里程碑,國人最熟悉的也是這部作品,德萊賽的大多數(shù)小說都以城市環(huán)境為背景,他更關(guān)注來自農(nóng)村的青年人,《嘉莉妹妹》這部小說也不例外。本文將從生態(tài)批評的視角分析《嘉莉妹妹》這部小說中暗含的反生態(tài)思想—即人與自然的疏離關(guān)系,人與人之間的扭曲關(guān)系,以及人與自我之間的失衡關(guān)系,揭示在城市化進(jìn)程的快速發(fā)展和道德觀念的沖擊下,人們的生活方式,倫理道德,精神方面都發(fā)生了畸變,并且陷入了物質(zhì)享受的漩渦,變成了喪失倫理道德的“空心人”。但是值得一提的是德萊賽筆下的艾姆斯的出現(xiàn)給嘉莉困惑的人生燃起了希望的明燈。 本文由引言,三個(gè)章節(jié)和結(jié)語部分組成。 引言部分概述了德萊賽的生平及其主要作品、生態(tài)批評理論的相關(guān)內(nèi)容,嘉莉妹妹這部小說的主要內(nèi)容,國內(nèi)外關(guān)于嘉莉妹妹這部小說的研究現(xiàn)狀,以及該論文要解決的問題。 第一章探討,《嘉莉妹妹》中人與自然的疏離關(guān)系。小說展現(xiàn)了工業(yè)文明和城市的發(fā)展對環(huán)境造成的破壞以及美國在轉(zhuǎn)型時(shí)期城市的巨大變化。 第二章分析《嘉莉妹妹》中人與人之間的不和諧關(guān)系。在巨大的物質(zhì)利益面前,嘉莉和她的姐姐、姐夫之間的骨肉親情也化為泡影,這種扭曲還表現(xiàn)在嘉莉和她的情人之間的扭曲關(guān)系上。 第三章著重分析嘉莉的精神世界,她極度“物質(zhì)崇拜”。工業(yè)文明和城市化的發(fā)展扭曲了嘉莉的心靈,她出賣自己的身體和靈魂,喪失了傳統(tǒng)的倫理道德,最終嘉莉獲得了物質(zhì)上的成功,但精神世界卻很貧瘠。而艾姆斯的出現(xiàn)化解了消費(fèi)社會(huì)中人們對物質(zhì)和精神追求之間的矛盾。 結(jié)語部分指出,在社會(huì)轉(zhuǎn)型的特殊時(shí)期,人們對物質(zhì)崇拜到了無以復(fù)加的地步,人與自然的疏離關(guān)系,人與人之間關(guān)系的不和諧關(guān)系,最終導(dǎo)致了人類的“精神污染”。但是,德萊賽筆下的艾姆斯的價(jià)值觀給我們帶來了深遠(yuǎn)的啟迪和思索。因此,在當(dāng)下閱讀《嘉莉妹妹》,對于我們要建立新型的、生態(tài)可接受的工業(yè)和城市發(fā)展模式會(huì)起到重要的啟示作用。我們要重新審視城市移民,特別是女性城市移民,重構(gòu)和諧的精神生態(tài)。
[Abstract]:Theodore Dreiser was one of the greatest writers in American literary history in 20th century, and his first novel, Sister Carrie, has been hailed as a historic milestone in American fiction, and it's the one most familiar to Chinese. Most of Dreiser's novels are set in the urban environment. He pays more attention to the young people from the countryside, and Sister Carrie is no exception to this novel. This paper will analyze the anti-ecological thought implied in Sister Carrie's novel from the perspective of ecological criticism, that is, the alienation between man and nature. The distorted relationship between people and the imbalance between people and themselves reveals that under the rapid development of urbanization and the impact of moral concepts, people's way of life, ethics and spirit have been distorted. But it is worth mentioning that the emergence of Dresser's Ames gives Carrie a light of hope in her confused life. This paper is composed of introduction, three chapters and conclusion. The introduction summarizes Dreiser's life and his main works, the relevant contents of ecological criticism theory, the main contents of sister Carrie's novel, and the current situation of research on Carrie's novel at home and abroad. And the problems to be solved in this paper. The first chapter discusses the relationship between man and nature in Sister Carrie. The novel shows the destruction of the environment caused by industrial civilization and the development of cities and the great changes of American cities during the transition period. The second chapter analyzes the disharmonious relationship between people in Sister Carrie. In the face of great material interests, the kinship between Carrie and her sister, her brother-in-law, has fallen apart. The distortion was also manifested in the distorted relationship between Carrie and her lover. The third chapter focuses on the spiritual world of Carrie, who is extremely "material worship". The development of industrial civilization and urbanization distorts Carrie's mind, she sells her body and soul, and loses the traditional ethics, Carrie eventually achieved material success, but the spiritual world was barren, and Ames's emergence resolved the contradiction between material and spiritual pursuits in consumer society. The conclusion points out that in the special period of social transformation, people worship the material to the point that the alienation between man and nature and the disharmonious relationship between man and man lead to the "spiritual pollution" of human beings. Dreiser's Ames values give us profound inspiration and thought. So, reading Sister Carrie now, for us to build a new type, Ecological acceptable industrial and urban development model will play an important role in inspiration. We should re-examine urban migrants, especially female urban migrants, and reconstruct a harmonious spiritual ecology.
