【摘要】：對(duì)于喬治·艾略特的杰作《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》,很多批評(píng)家包括利維斯和史蒂芬都認(rèn)為麥琪的悲劇主要是由于其自身性格原因造成的。本文通過(guò)文本細(xì)讀和細(xì)節(jié)分析,認(rèn)為麥琪的悲劇是由其精神追求和現(xiàn)實(shí)的沖突造成的。 小說(shuō)里反映的麥琪的精神追求包括愛(ài)和利他。通過(guò)麥琪的精神追求,喬治·艾略特認(rèn)為愛(ài)和利他是理想的人與人之間的關(guān)系準(zhǔn)則。麥琪渴望愛(ài),認(rèn)為這個(gè)世界缺少愛(ài)。她同情費(fèi)利浦,放棄與史蒂芬的愛(ài)情,以及她選擇克己,都體現(xiàn)了她的利他主義。 社會(huì)現(xiàn)實(shí)體現(xiàn)在工業(yè)革命給人們的關(guān)系帶來(lái)的影響上。當(dāng)時(shí)的商業(yè)社會(huì)不僅帶來(lái)了大量的財(cái)富,而且改變了人們的傳統(tǒng)價(jià)值觀。在追求財(cái)富的過(guò)程中,社會(huì)的陰暗面也開(kāi)始顯現(xiàn),并且在小說(shuō)中體現(xiàn)在兩個(gè)方面：一是塔利佛和威根姆之間的仇恨,二是親戚們之間的冷漠。 通過(guò)對(duì)比發(fā)現(xiàn),麥琪的精神追求與現(xiàn)實(shí)的矛盾沖突不可調(diào)和。她渴望愛(ài),現(xiàn)實(shí)卻充滿仇恨；她對(duì)費(fèi)利浦的同情遭到家庭的壓制；她的利他主義與親戚們的冷漠形成對(duì)比。所有這些都表明了她的理想世界和現(xiàn)實(shí)的沖突。在理想與現(xiàn)實(shí)的沖突中,她總是留戀過(guò)去來(lái)尋求安慰。 本文的結(jié)論是,麥琪的悲劇不僅是兄妹倆淹沒(méi)在洪水中,真正的悲劇是,雖然麥琪做出了犧牲和妥協(xié),她的精神追求在現(xiàn)實(shí)中依然得不到實(shí)現(xiàn)。艾略特希望通過(guò)麥琪的悲劇來(lái)呼喚對(duì)于當(dāng)時(shí)人們精神世界的關(guān)注。
[Abstract]:For George Eliot's masterpiece the Mill on the Flores. Many critics, including Levi and Stephen, believe that Maggie's tragedy is mainly caused by her own character. It is believed that Maggie's tragedy is caused by the conflict between her spiritual pursuit and reality. The spiritual pursuit of Maggie reflected in the novel includes love and altruism. Through Maggie's spiritual pursuit, George Eliot believes that love and altruism are the norm of the relationship between ideal people. Maggie longs for love. She sympathizes with Philip, gives up her love with Stephen, and her choice of love embodies her altruism. Social reality is reflected in the impact of the industrial revolution on the relationship between people. At that time, the commercial society not only brought a lot of wealth, but also changed people's traditional values. The dark side of society has also begun to appear and is reflected in two aspects of the novel: the hatred between Tarifour and Wigan and the indifference between relatives. Through comparison, it is found that Maggie's spiritual pursuit cannot be reconciled with the contradiction and conflict of reality. She longs for love, but reality is full of hatred; Her sympathy for Philip was suppressed by the family; Her altruism contrasts with the indifference of her relatives. All this shows the conflict between her ideal world and her reality. The conclusion of this paper is that Maggie's tragedy is not only the two brothers and sisters submerged in the flood, the real tragedy is, although Maggie made sacrifices and compromises. Her spiritual pursuit is still not realized in reality. Eliot hopes to call attention to people's spiritual world through Maggie's tragedy.
