【摘要】：作為20世紀(jì)英國(guó)文學(xué)最重要的作家之一,也是西方文學(xué)史上最富有爭(zhēng)議的作家之一,戴維·赫伯特·勞倫斯(1885-1930)是一位多產(chǎn)作家。在他短暫的20多年的文學(xué)生涯中,共創(chuàng)作了12部長(zhǎng)篇小說,50多篇中短篇小說,多本詩集,大量的散文隨筆、文學(xué)評(píng)論和翻譯作品。同時(shí),他還出版過繪畫集,舉辦過畫展,可謂是一位文學(xué)藝術(shù)領(lǐng)域里名副其實(shí)的多面手。他的文學(xué)作品具有經(jīng)久不衰的魅力,在全世界范圍內(nèi)廣為流傳。 在勞倫斯所有體裁的作品當(dāng)中,他的長(zhǎng)篇小說獲得了最多的好評(píng)。然而,近來不少評(píng)論家認(rèn)為勞倫斯的短篇小說由于篇幅較短,結(jié)構(gòu)緊湊,并且主題凝練,沖突集中,因而更為精巧和出色。此外,勞倫斯對(duì)生活的觀察,對(duì)宇宙的思考,對(duì)人類內(nèi)心世界的探索在他的短篇小說中得到了更鮮明、更突出的體現(xiàn)。筆者在研讀勞倫斯的短篇小說的過程中還發(fā)現(xiàn),其前期短篇小說在主題、故事背景、人物形象和語言方面與其前期的長(zhǎng)篇小說有頗多相似之處,尤其是前期短篇與長(zhǎng)篇小說中的女性形象十分相似。然而勞倫斯的后期短篇小說則與其長(zhǎng)篇作品不同,并且其后期短篇中的女性形象在某種程度上語氣前期作品中的女性相比呈現(xiàn)出明顯的不同。但是同勞倫斯前期作品相比,尤其是前期的長(zhǎng)篇小說,后期的短篇小說受到的關(guān)注和研究較為稀少。 因此,筆者認(rèn)為很有必要將研究的視線轉(zhuǎn)移到勞倫斯的短篇小說上,尤其是其短篇小說中的女性形象,這將非常有助于對(duì)勞倫斯及其短篇作品產(chǎn)生新的、更深刻的、更全面的認(rèn)識(shí)。 本文共選取了勞倫斯從文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的前期到后期的11篇短篇小說進(jìn)行分析研究,因?yàn)檫@11篇短篇小說中的女性形象不僅具有代表性,而且可以很好地說明勞倫斯短篇小說中女性形象的嬗變。本文從社會(huì)歷史的角度,通過文本細(xì)讀的方式,并結(jié)合勞倫斯的書信,游記及傳記作品等來分析這11篇短篇作品中的女性人物形象。本文首先分析了勞倫斯前期短篇小說中的女性人物并將她們大致分為兩類,一類是深陷婚姻之中的絕望主婦,另一類是被愛喚醒的年輕女孩。接著本文解讀了勞倫斯幾篇有代表性的后期短篇小說中的女性人物形象,發(fā)現(xiàn)勞倫斯對(duì)這些女性人物的刻畫與前期有很大不同,具體表現(xiàn)在后期短篇小說中的女性的生活不再局限于自己的家庭瑣事或?qū)橐龅牟粷M之中,而是向原始神秘的力量進(jìn)行探索,勇敢地回歸到大自然中尋求生命與活力。后期還有一類與前期形成反差的女性形象。這類女性無畏地與那些對(duì)自己的子女有很強(qiáng)的控制欲和占有欲的母親作斗爭(zhēng)。她們最終取得勝利,掙脫了畸形母愛的束縛,獲得自由。通過對(duì)勞倫斯前期短篇小說中的女性人物和后期女性人物的細(xì)致分析和對(duì)比,本文得出在勞倫斯短篇小說的創(chuàng)作中對(duì)于女性人物的形象塑造有一個(gè)明顯的發(fā)展和嬗變。并且,這一演變其實(shí)并不單純是作者文學(xué)創(chuàng)作上的成熟,更是其思想上的深化和發(fā)展。這種嬗變體現(xiàn)了勞倫斯文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的后期對(duì)現(xiàn)代工業(yè)文明對(duì)人性的異化、本能的壓抑的更深刻的批判,并對(duì)如何處理人類與自然的關(guān)系,對(duì)女性的未來以及人類的未來進(jìn)行了更加深入的思索。
[Abstract]:As one of the most important writers in the twentieth Century English literature, one of the most controversial writers in western literary history, David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) is a prolific writer. In his short 20 years of literary career, a total of 12 novels, more than 50 short stories, poetry books, a lot of prose and essays, literary criticism and translation. At the same time, he also published painted paintings, hosted the exhibition, it is worthy of the name of a generalist in the field of literature and art. His literary works have unfailing charm, widely circulated around the world.
In all of Laurence works, his novel has gained the most praise. However, recently, many critics believe that Laurence's short stories because of short, compact structure, and the theme of conflict, and thus more concise, delicate and excellent. In addition, Laurence's observation of life, the universe of thought, to explore the inner world of human has been in his short stories more vivid, embody more prominent. The author also found that the process of short stories in the study of Laurence in the early short novels, the story background, there are a lot of similarities of characters and language and early novels, especially female images and early short stories in the novels are very similar. But Laurence's late short stories and novels, and the late short stories of female image in some extent In the earlier stage works, there are obvious differences between the females. However, compared with Laurence's early works, especially the early novels, the later ones are less concerned.
Therefore, I think it is necessary to shift the line of sight to Laurence's short stories, especially the female images in his short stories, which will contribute to a new, deeper and more comprehensive understanding of Laurence and his short works.
This paper selected the analysis of Laurence's 11 short stories from the early to the late literary creation, because the image of women in these 11 short stories in not only representative, but also can explain the evolution of female images in Laurence's novels. From the society historical perspective, through a close reading of the text and, with the letters of Laurence, travels and biographical works to analyze the 11 short works of female characters. This paper first analyzes the female characters in Laurence's early short stories and they will be divided into two categories, one is the desperate housewives trapped in marriage, the other is awakened by the young girl love. Then this article interprets Laurence several representative late short stories of female characters, found the depiction and early Laurence of these female characters are very different, Specific performance in the late short stories of women in life are no longer confined to their own household chores or to dissatisfaction with the marriage, but to explore the original mysterious power, brave to return to nature for life and vitality. Later there is a class with pre formed female image of anti poor. This kind of women and fearless those of their children have a strong desire to control and possessive mother struggle. They won the final victory, to break the shackles, deformed motherhood free. The female characters in Laurence's early short stories and later female characters in the detailed analysis and comparison, we create an obvious development and evolution of female characters in Laurence's short stories. And this is not only the evolution is the author's creation, it is the thought of the deep And development. This evolution reflects Laurence's literary creation stage of modern industrial civilization alienation of human nature, the repression of human instinct more profound criticism, and how to deal with relationship of man and nature, to women's future and the future of human thinking more deeply.
