評(píng)價(jià)理論下的英漢恭維語研究

【摘要】:恭維語(compliment language)在言語行為的研究中具有舉足輕重的地位。很多專家、學(xué)者曾對(duì)恭維語的語言公式、稱贊話題、策略以及跨文化差異和性別間差異進(jìn)行過研究,并取得了很大的成績(jī)。然而,這些研究的理論基礎(chǔ)較為單一,主要在兩大理論的指導(dǎo)下進(jìn)行,即言語行為理論和禮貌理論,因此必然導(dǎo)致研究結(jié)果的單一性。即便如此,他們的研究成果也為本文的分析奠定了基礎(chǔ)。 本文嘗試在一個(gè)新的理論框架——評(píng)價(jià)理論(the AppraisalFramework)下對(duì)英漢恭維語進(jìn)行分類和對(duì)比研究。評(píng)價(jià)理論是系統(tǒng)功能語言學(xué)家馬丁(J?R?Martin)在二十世紀(jì)九十年代初提出的,發(fā)展至今已形成一個(gè)描述和解釋語言使用的理論體系。以往對(duì)人際意義的研究?jī)H限于語法范疇,不能清楚地說明說話者的態(tài)度。而馬丁提出的評(píng)價(jià)理論正是彌補(bǔ)了這一缺失,從情感,判斷,鑒賞能力等角度對(duì)“態(tài)度”這個(gè)研究得較為薄弱的人際意義范疇進(jìn)行了系統(tǒng)的分類和處理。 評(píng)價(jià)理論可分為三個(gè)子體系,即態(tài)度(Attitude)、級(jí)次(Graduation)和介入(Engagement)。態(tài)度指說話人以個(gè)人情感或社會(huì)價(jià)值體系為依據(jù)所表達(dá)的對(duì)人或事的評(píng)價(jià);級(jí)次表現(xiàn)話語的語氣是強(qiáng)還是弱,語言是模糊還是鮮明;介入描述說話人以何種方式表達(dá)個(gè)人與他人和事物的關(guān)系,從而表現(xiàn)他在話語中的投入程度。本文將以其中的兩個(gè)子體系——態(tài)度和級(jí)次為理論框架,在此框架下結(jié)合恭維語的特點(diǎn)創(chuàng)造一個(gè)全新的“恭維語態(tài)度框架”(Attitudinal Compliment Framework)。 在本研究中,筆者通過問卷調(diào)查收集來的700 條中英文語料,逐條在“恭維語態(tài)度框架”下進(jìn)行標(biāo)注和分類,從而建立了一個(gè)中英恭維語
