機(jī)器翻譯在經(jīng)歷了長達(dá)幾十年的發(fā)展和演變之后,隨著信息技術(shù)和計(jì)算機(jī)技術(shù)的不斷提高,對(duì)機(jī)器翻譯的研究已經(jīng)由當(dāng)初簡單的語言學(xué)與計(jì)算科學(xué)相結(jié)合的學(xué)科慢慢轉(zhuǎn)變?yōu)槿诤狭苏Z義學(xué)、數(shù)學(xué)、語料庫、計(jì)算科學(xué)、人工智能和生物科學(xué)的一個(gè)綜合性研究領(lǐng)域。然而時(shí)至今日,機(jī)器翻譯的譯文質(zhì)量依然不能達(dá)到人們所期望的水平。尤其是在長句處理問題上,盡管計(jì)算機(jī)等相關(guān)科學(xué)已經(jīng)較十幾年前有了質(zhì)的飛躍,然而長句處理這一問題卻依然是機(jī)器翻譯研究領(lǐng)域中一個(gè)無法逾越的障礙。 長句的處理不同于詞的查詢。詞的查詢只需要對(duì)所查詢詞進(jìn)行詞例還原并將還原詞例與數(shù)據(jù)庫中的條目進(jìn)行比對(duì)搜索就可以輕易找到對(duì)應(yīng)的譯文,而其中詞例還原所需要涉及的轉(zhuǎn)換規(guī)則對(duì)于現(xiàn)有的技術(shù)水平來說是十分容易的。相比之下,要想進(jìn)行長句的分析處理,則不僅需要進(jìn)行詞一級(jí)的信息比對(duì),而且還需要對(duì)句子中的各種結(jié)構(gòu)進(jìn)行區(qū)分和關(guān)系辨別,這其中涉及到了歧義處理,詞的遠(yuǎn)距離相關(guān),句相關(guān)等一系列的問題,諸如從句中包含短語,短語中含有從句,主、從句被插入語隔開等情況。而所有這些復(fù)雜的句結(jié)構(gòu)關(guān)系能否被成功識(shí)別并通過規(guī)則成功轉(zhuǎn)換為正常語序的目標(biāo)語言正是制約機(jī)器翻譯發(fā)展的一個(gè)關(guān)鍵性課題。因?yàn)樵谟⒄Z...
