【摘要】：《紅樓夢(mèng)》是中國(guó)歷史上“前不見(jiàn)古人,后不見(jiàn)來(lái)者”的經(jīng)典著作,自問(wèn)世以來(lái),一直廣受歡迎。專(zhuān)家學(xué)者們對(duì)它的批注、考評(píng)和研究經(jīng)久不息,并逐漸匯集成一門(mén)新的學(xué)問(wèn)——紅學(xué)。上世紀(jì)70年代末、80年代初,《紅樓夢(mèng)》兩個(gè)全譯本——英國(guó)漢學(xué)家戴維·霍克斯(David Hawkes)、約翰·閔福德(John Minford)翻譯的The Story of the Stone和楊憲益(Yang Xianyi)、戴乃迭(Gladys Yang)夫婦翻譯的A Dream of Red Mansions——繼面世,隨即出現(xiàn)了大量研究《紅樓夢(mèng)》翻譯的文章,然而多數(shù)研究依據(jù)傳統(tǒng)翻譯理論模式,從文本比較和語(yǔ)言信息的轉(zhuǎn)換出發(fā),尋求譯文與原文的各種對(duì)等,忽略了翻譯活動(dòng)中最活躍的因素——譯者。迄今為止,幾乎沒(méi)有從譯者主體性角度探討兩譯本的研究。 當(dāng)代文論中闡釋學(xué)和接受美學(xué)的盛行以及翻譯研究中描寫(xiě)翻譯學(xué)的興起與翻譯研究的文化轉(zhuǎn)向,使譯者作為翻譯主體的身份得以突顯,學(xué)術(shù)界開(kāi)始關(guān)注譯者在翻譯中的作用,譯者主體性隨之成為翻譯研究的新課題。在這一時(shí)代背景下,本文作者將譯者主體性研究納入《紅樓夢(mèng)》的英譯研究,試圖尋找解讀兩譯本的最佳途徑。 本文通過(guò)追溯翻譯史上專(zhuān)家學(xué)者們對(duì)翻譯及譯者的有關(guān)論述以及翻譯批評(píng)思路的轉(zhuǎn)換,將譯者主體性研究置于當(dāng)代文論和當(dāng)代翻譯理論的廣闊視野中,科學(xué)地考察了譯者主體性的內(nèi)涵及其表現(xiàn),進(jìn)而把譯者主體性的研究成果引入《紅樓夢(mèng)》的英譯研究,主要從翻譯目的、譯者所處的社會(huì)歷史語(yǔ)境、譯者的文化取向和讀者意識(shí)幾方面,從宏觀和微觀兩個(gè)層面,描述和解釋兩個(gè)譯本的差異,從而解讀兩譯本。研究發(fā)現(xiàn):譯者主體性視角是解讀兩個(gè)幾乎同樣成功而又各有千秋的《紅樓夢(mèng)》譯本的有效途徑。將譯者主體性研究這一新課題引入舉世注目的《紅樓夢(mèng)》英譯研究,不僅有助于《紅樓夢(mèng)》英譯研究的多樣化和深入開(kāi)展,而且有助于深化各自的研究領(lǐng)域,同時(shí)為翻譯批評(píng)多元化提供有益的啟示,并為某些翻譯變形提供理論支持。
