波德萊爾的應和論和艾略特的客觀對應物理論都是產(chǎn)生了深遠影響的文學理論。其理論的新穎與深刻都開創(chuàng)了風氣之先。同時在其各自的文學創(chuàng)作中,又把其理論很好地貫穿其中。兩人作為象征主義文學的開山鼻祖和后象征主義文學的代表,其文學理論有著相似和相通之處。但由于主客觀因素,不同之處也是很明顯的。通過比較我們對象征主義文學的發(fā)展會有一個深刻的了解。在發(fā)展的過程中,后者的創(chuàng)作與創(chuàng)新使其成為一個連續(xù)的文學流派,給文學傳統(tǒng)加了濃重的一筆。首先本文將追溯到象征主義的源頭——古希臘。接著筆者將討論康德對象征主義產(chǎn)生重要影響的美學理論。第二,三,四,五章是文章的主干,在討論完波德萊爾和艾略特各自的理論—應和和客觀對應物之后。文章將通過背景,對作家主動性的強調(diào),對往昔的向往和音樂的因素來比較它們的相似之處,通過對感情的態(tài)度,與傳統(tǒng)的關(guān)系和不同的宗教性來對比它們的差異。通過上面的討論,筆者希望能夠相對清楚地表現(xiàn)兩位作家的異同,從中對象征主義文學的兩個階段有一個更深的理解。
