《蝴蝶夢》是我國元雜劇開山鼻祖關漢卿的作品,其中含有大量的典故、人名、俗語,亦使用了不少修辭句,戲曲語言極具生活化和性格化,由于元雜劇特殊的文學體式和用語風格,使得其英譯具有一定難度,國內對《蝴蝶夢》的英譯也少之又少。楊憲益、戴乃迭是一對堪稱中英合璧的翻譯家夫妻,對元雜劇的英譯開始得較早,二人所譯《關漢卿雜劇選》是較為成功的元雜劇英譯作品之一,本文選取的《蝴蝶夢》英譯本便出自其中。目前,國內對關漢卿《蝴蝶夢》的研究主要是從法律、戲劇、文學等方面進行探討,但少有對其英譯本的研究。本文從接受美學視角對楊憲益《蝴蝶夢》英譯本進行研究。接受美學是一種讀者中心論范式的文學理論,將重點放在讀者的接受上,對文學翻譯研究很有借鑒意義。有鑒于此,本文以接受美學為理論依據(jù),通過“期待視野”、“不確定性”和“召喚結構”,對楊憲益《蝴蝶夢》英譯本從詞、句及語篇三個層面進行探討、論述和研究,以期為元雜劇英譯提供借鑒與參考,促進元雜劇的對外傳播與交流。迄今為止,在中國知網(wǎng)上檢索的文獻資料中未見到元雜劇《蝴蝶夢》英譯本的專門性及系統(tǒng)性研究,這正是本論文的難點及創(chuàng)新之處,但同時也為進一步研究提供了可能性和空間。
