魯迅是中國(guó)著名的文學(xué)家,思想家和革命家。其小說(shuō)寓意深刻,善于反映中國(guó)的現(xiàn)狀以及國(guó)民性,運(yùn)用多種修辭手段刻畫人物、烘托時(shí)代背景。然而,很多中外讀者讀不懂魯迅的小說(shuō),尤其是涉及到小說(shuō)中的隱喻表達(dá)。楊憲益夫婦作為國(guó)內(nèi)外知名翻譯家,為傳播中國(guó)文化,翻譯了一系列作品,受到讀者的歡迎,其中包括魯迅的三部小說(shuō)《吶喊》、《彷徨》以及《故事新編》。本文以楊憲益譯本《吶喊》和《彷徨》為文本,以喬治·萊考夫和馬克·約翰遜的概念隱喻理論為理論框架,通過(guò)整合、分析其中具有代表性的人名和稱謂隱喻、顏色隱喻以及人體隱喻的翻譯,探討兩本小說(shuō)中三類隱喻的隱喻翻譯策略。本文選取、分析《吶喊》和《彷徨》中典型人名和稱謂隱喻例子,總結(jié)出六種姓名和稱謂隱喻的構(gòu)建方式,分別是諧音命名法、一詞多義命名法、蘊(yùn)含期望命名法、富含生理特征命名法、職業(yè)命名法以及陰陽(yáng)五行命名法。本文作者發(fā)現(xiàn)楊憲益夫婦主要采用直譯和意譯的翻譯策略。由于姓名和稱謂隱喻自身的特點(diǎn),本文作者總結(jié)出三種具體翻譯方法:音譯,釋譯和加注,準(zhǔn)確地表達(dá)了魯迅想要向讀者傳達(dá)的姓名和稱謂隱喻意義,揭示了小說(shuō)里人物的性格和命運(yùn)以及小說(shuō)主題。其次,本文收集《吶喊》和《彷徨》中的顏色隱喻,總結(jié)出九種基本顏色,分別是黑色、白色、紅色、灰色、藍(lán)色、黃色、紫色、綠色以及粉色,然后以基本顏色為單位,細(xì)分了不同顏色的隱喻意義。通過(guò)隱喻識(shí)別和總結(jié),本文作者發(fā)現(xiàn)楊憲益夫婦依據(jù)文化多樣性以及具體文學(xué)語(yǔ)境,采取保持同種或相似顏色,改變顏色以及去掉顏色直接表達(dá)顏色的隱含意義,生動(dòng)形象地刻畫了人物性格、準(zhǔn)確地描述了當(dāng)時(shí)社會(huì)環(huán)境,揭示了人物的命運(yùn)和小說(shuō)的主題。最后,本文根據(jù)跨域映射,把人體隱喻構(gòu)建的方式分為三類:人體到非人體,非人體到人體,以及人體到人體。作者發(fā)現(xiàn)楊憲益夫婦根據(jù)英漢文化的差異以及詞匯的發(fā)展,主要采用保留喻體、重新建構(gòu)喻體以及省略喻體處理人體隱喻翻譯。本文旨在幫助中外讀者加深對(duì)魯迅小說(shuō)的理解,展示中文的魅力,同時(shí)也希望為以后的青年譯者提供更多實(shí)用的翻譯技巧,為推動(dòng)中國(guó)文化的傳播,促進(jìn)中外文化交流做貢獻(xiàn)。
