從操縱論視角管窺徐志摩詩歌翻譯

【摘要】: 徐志摩是二十世紀(jì)二三十年代最負(fù)盛名的詩人之一,同時也是當(dāng)時重要的詩歌譯者之一。在郭著章所著的《翻譯名家研究》一書中,徐志摩被認(rèn)為是二十世紀(jì)初以來從事翻譯的十六位重要譯者中的一位。他的譯作在他全部作品中,占了近四分之一。他所選擇的原語文本涉及詩歌、散文、戲劇、短篇故事等多種文學(xué)樣式。這其中,他對詩歌翻譯所做貢獻(xiàn)最大。 徐志摩的譯作不僅大大豐富了他自己的創(chuàng)作思想,更為中國新詩的形成和發(fā)展提供了不可或缺的新鮮血液和養(yǎng)料,從而為新文化運(yùn)動的發(fā)展起到了推波助瀾的作用。他翻譯詩歌時所采取的翻譯策略獨(dú)到而新穎,常常產(chǎn)生出其不意的效果。同時,伴隨著他的翻譯活動,他也曾多次鄭重提出翻譯詩歌應(yīng)該遵循的原則問題,從實(shí)踐和理論上都為中國的詩歌翻譯做出了一定的貢獻(xiàn)。 但是,一直以來,他作為詩歌譯者的身份與他作為詩人的身份相比,似乎從不能相提并論。就徐身后的研究來看,對他的詩歌創(chuàng)作本身的研究可謂汗牛充棟,可是對他翻譯的研究卻寥若晨星。而就在這些屈指可數(shù)的評論和研究中,也是負(fù)面的評價居多,多半認(rèn)為他的譯作失敗有余,成功不足,這與對他詩歌創(chuàng)作的高度贊譽(yù)恰恰形成鮮明的對比。 另外,與其它和徐志摩同一時代的翻譯家相比,目前國內(nèi)外對徐志摩的翻譯活動和翻譯思想的研究相對非常之少。許多學(xué)者往往在討論徐志摩詩歌創(chuàng)作時,會提到他的翻譯,但大部分是從翻譯對徐志摩詩歌創(chuàng)作的單方面影響來談的,而對其翻譯活動本身的研究卻很少。就現(xiàn)有的對徐志摩翻譯的研究來看,大都以文本對比分析為主,而從文本之外因素來探討徐志摩翻譯活動的論著非常之少。 本研究以考查文本之外因素為研究重點(diǎn),借鑒勒弗菲爾操縱論的理論框架,運(yùn)用實(shí)證和理論相結(jié)合的研究方法,從詩學(xué)、意識形態(tài)和贊助人等方面對其翻譯活動進(jìn)行描述性研究,考查徐志摩的翻譯思想和文藝思想與其翻譯活動的相互關(guān)系,并分析意識形態(tài)與贊助人對他的翻譯思想與翻譯實(shí)踐的影響,從而揭示出徐志摩做出特定翻譯選擇的歷史文化因素。 另外,在研究過程中,得到了兩點(diǎn)重要的啟示,那就是譯者是特定歷史文化條件下的譯者,是特定歷史文化的體現(xiàn)者。因此,有必要對譯者進(jìn)行歷史性的評價,這樣不僅對譯者更加公平公道,也相應(yīng)的會使后來者得到更多的啟示。 希望通過本研究,能夠?qū)@位兼具譯者身份的天才詩人有一個更全面、更公正的認(rèn)識。但要想更加全面和公正的認(rèn)識徐志摩的詩歌翻譯,還需要更多人的努力和更進(jìn)一步的研究。
[Abstract]:Xu Zhimo was one of the most famous poets in the twenties and thirties, and one of the most important poetry translators at that time. In Guo Zhang's study of famous translators, Xu Zhimo is considered to be one of the 16 important translators engaged in translation since the beginning of the 20th century. His translation accounts for nearly 1/4 of his works. The original text he selected involves poetry, prose, drama, short stories and many other literary styles. Among them, he made the greatest contribution to poetry translation. Xu Zhimo's translation not only greatly enriched his own creative thoughts, but also provided indispensable fresh blood and nourishment for the formation and development of Chinese new poetry, thus contributing to the development of the New Culture Movement. His translation strategies are original and novel, and often produce unexpected effects. At the same time, along with his translation activities, he has raised the principle of poetry translation on many occasions, which has contributed to the translation of Chinese poetry both in practice and in theory. However, his identity as a poetry translator has never been comparable to his position as a poet. As far as the research behind Xu is concerned, the study of his poetic creation itself can be described as overflowing, but the study of his translation is as few as the dawn star. But in these few comments and studies, there are many negative comments, most of which think that his translation failed more than enough, which is in sharp contrast with the high praise for his poetry creation. In addition, compared with other translators of the same era as Xu Zhimo, there are relatively few studies on Xu Zhimo's translation activities and ideas at home and abroad. Many scholars often refer to Xu Zhimo's translation when discussing his poetry creation, but most of them are discussed from the unilateral influence of translation on Xu Zhimo's poetry creation, but the study of his translation activity itself is very little. Most of the existing studies on Xu Zhimo translation focus on text contrastive analysis, but very few on Xu Zhimo translation activities from outside of the text. This study focuses on the factors beyond the textual examination, draws lessons from the theoretical framework of Lefel's manipulation theory, and applies the research method of combining empirical and theoretical research, from poetics to poetics. From the aspects of ideology and patronage, the author makes a descriptive study of his translation activities, and examines the relationship between Xu Zhimo's translation thoughts and literary and artistic thoughts and his translation activities. It also analyzes the influence of ideology and patronage on his translation thought and translation practice, thus revealing the historical and cultural factors that Xu Zhimo makes specific translation choices. In addition, in the course of the research, there are two important revelations, that is, the translator is the translator under the specific historical and cultural conditions and the embodiment of the specific historical culture. Therefore, it is necessary to make a historical evaluation of the translator, which will not only be fairer to the translator, but also more enlightening to the latecomers. It is hoped that through this study we can have a more comprehensive and fair understanding of this talented poet as a translator. However, more efforts and further studies are needed to understand Xu Zhimo's poetry translation in a more comprehensive and fair way.
