英國旅居者在滬跨文化適應(yīng)影響因素的研究
[Abstract]:Cross-cultural adaptation research has always been a hot topic in the field of cross-cultural communication. In foreign countries, cross-cultural adaptation research has made great progress. Scholars in different fields have proposed cross-cultural adaptation models and measurement tools from different disciplines, and the scope of application is also wide. But in China, cross-cultural research is in two parts In the early 1980s, most studies on cross-cultural adaptation were confined to Chinese cultural adaptation abroad. With the deepening of China's opening up, the number of British expatriate workers in China has risen rapidly. The adaptation of these special groups in China has become a hot topic in cross-cultural adaptation research. The purpose of this study is to understand the cultural adaptation of this group in China and find out its influencing factors. It is hoped that this study will be helpful and enlightening to the British expatriates in their cross-cultural adaptation in Shanghai.
In the part of qualitative research, 10 British expatriates working in Shanghai were interviewed to find out their cross-cultural adaptation level, results and influencing factors, and some important factors were selected as the main influencing variables of the quantitative questionnaire survey. These results are influenced by time, intercultural communication ability (including language ability), social support and personality in China.
In the part of quantitative research, because there is no effective measurement tool for cross-cultural identity, this study used questionnaire to measure the social and cultural adaptation, psychological and cultural adaptation and job satisfaction of 56 British workers in Shanghai. Among the outcome variables, socio cultural adaptation is positively correlated with psychological adjustment and job satisfaction.
There were no significant differences among the three outcome variables in terms of gender, age, education level and occupation. The correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis showed that in Shanghai time, Chinese language ability, social support and personality (except flexibility) all contributed to the adaptation results to a certain extent. Social support has the greatest impact on the results of cross-cultural adaptation.
