[Abstract]:In the field of sociolinguistics, the gender factor is an important variable in the study of the different conversational styles of men and women, which has been used in many studies to examine the gender differences in face-to-face communication between men and women. These studies also show that people of different genders have different communication styles and communication patterns. With the wide application of Internet technology in the world, compared with the traditional face-to-face communication, a new way of interpersonal communication has been born. This network communication model has developed rapidly and established a unique cultural and linguistic model, so it has attracted more and more attention in recent years. Most online communication is based on words, and this online communication language is called internet language. Compared with general language, network language has its own characteristics in terms of writing style and sentence expression. When people talk online in online language, we communicate with either the same sex or the opposite sex. If we can better understand the differences between men and women in the use of the Internet language, we can more smoothly build a harmonious and successful communication. The purpose of this study is to test whether there are differences in the network language used by men and women in Chinese context, and to provide possible theoretical significance and practical guidance on this basis. The data collected in this study all come from the online chat records provided by 30 subjects. The 30 subjects consisted of 15 men and 15 women who had long online experiences. Based on the characteristics of internet language and Chinese, six variables were selected to study the gender differences of internet language in Chinese context. The quantitative analysis method is used in this study. The data are analyzed in the form of numbers and percentages through statistical operation to ensure that the conclusions are more accurate. After research and analysis, it is found that: First, there is no significant difference in the amount of discourse between men and women in online communication. Second, in online communication, women use more feedback than men. Thirdly, in online communication, women use more auxiliary words than men. Fourthly, in online communication, men use more modal words than women. Fifth, there is no significant difference in the frequency of use of symbolic words between men and women in online communication. Sixth, in online communication, men use internet habits more than women. Seventh, in online communication, the main causes of gender differences are the influence of traditional culture, the stereotype of gender and the different socialization process of men and women. The above results show that there are some differences between men and women in the use of online language in Chinese context, but in some respects, there are no obvious gender markers.
