許淵沖是中國當(dāng)代著名的翻譯家,他在中國文化典籍翻譯方面做出了杰出的貢獻(xiàn),其《論語》英譯本便是經(jīng)典譯作之一。在英美文化強(qiáng)勢的背景下,該作品卻在西方世界廣受好評,引起了學(xué)者們的極大關(guān)注。在當(dāng)前中國文化“走出去”的背景下,探究許淵沖《論語》英譯本暢銷背后的深層原因,對促進(jìn)中國文化的對外傳播具有重要的現(xiàn)實意義。20世紀(jì)90年代,翻譯研究領(lǐng)域迎來了社會學(xué)這一新的轉(zhuǎn)向,在諸多社會學(xué)家的理論中,布迪厄社會學(xué)理論的引用頻次最高。布迪厄社會學(xué)理論的核心概念是場域、慣習(xí)和資本,該理論打破了傳統(tǒng)社會學(xué)的主客觀對立,強(qiáng)調(diào)個人行為與社會實踐的雙向構(gòu)建。將布迪厄社會學(xué)理論應(yīng)用于翻譯研究探索譯者翻譯選擇的社會學(xué)因素,考察譯者的翻譯活動與社會環(huán)境的關(guān)系,有助于更好地解讀特定時期中的譯者行為。本文依據(jù)布迪厄社會學(xué)理論分析許淵沖《論語》英譯本,借助布迪厄社會學(xué)中的核心概念來考察許淵沖《論語》的英譯過程。首先,從社會場域、文學(xué)場域和翻譯場域分析其對許淵沖《論語》翻譯的影響,發(fā)現(xiàn)譯者當(dāng)時的翻譯選擇與政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)和文化等密切相關(guān)。21世紀(jì)后,隨著中國的迅速崛起,越來越多的外國人渴望了解中國,中國也迫切需要將自己的文化價值理念傳播...
