翟理斯(Herbert Giles,1845-1935)是十九世紀下半葉至二十世紀初英國漢詩翻譯領(lǐng)域最具有代表性的漢學家之一。翟理斯一生筆耕不輟,著作頗豐,他的漢詩英譯以語言華麗,格律嚴謹著稱于世。韋利(Arthur Waley,1889-1966)是繼翟理斯之后英國漢學界的又一后起之秀。韋利以顛覆者的形象登上漢詩翻譯的舞臺。他不僅舍棄了嚴謹?shù)母衤审w和華麗抽象的語言風格,還以霍普金斯的“彈跳節(jié)奏”為核心建立起屬于自己的譯詩風格。翟理斯和韋利是兩個相鄰時期英國漢學界漢詩翻譯領(lǐng)域的杰出代表,但二者的漢詩翻譯在多個層面表現(xiàn)出明顯的差異。作為一名后輩譯者,韋利不僅在翻譯實踐中背離了以翟理斯為代表的翻譯傳統(tǒng),還曾在1918年至1920年間與翟理斯就漢詩翻譯展開一場專門的論戰(zhàn)。布魯姆(Harold Bloom,1930-)是美國“耶魯學派”的重要批評家、文學理論家。他在《影響的焦慮》中提出誤讀理論。布魯姆的誤讀理論重新定義了前輩詩人與后輩詩人之間的關(guān)系。布魯姆用誤讀來描述后輩詩人為了建立自己的文學地位而對前輩詩人所代表的文學傳統(tǒng)進行偏移和修正的傾向。誤讀理論雖為詩歌理論,但同樣能為翻譯領(lǐng)域的研究帶...
