【摘要】：本文是以建立語料庫,結(jié)合語用學(xué)為手段對that一詞在《芒果街上的小屋》一書中的翻譯進(jìn)行的一項研究,屬于語用學(xué)與翻譯之間的跨學(xué)科研究。語用學(xué)研究具體語境下語言的使用。翻譯則是以源語為研究主體,目標(biāo)語為研究對象,關(guān)注兩種語言之間意義和文化信息轉(zhuǎn)換的學(xué)科。語用學(xué)不僅幫助譯者理解源語中that一詞的語用用法,還為翻譯研究提供了新的研究視角。翻譯活動既是語言之間交際的過程,又是跨文化性的實踐。語言的這種共通性促成了這兩種學(xué)科之間的融合與研究。根據(jù)朗文當(dāng)代高級英語辭典(英漢雙解)對that一詞的定義可看出,that有代詞,連接詞與副詞三大詞性。代詞詞性在語用學(xué)中被理解為某一用詞的指示性,包括指示,非指示,手勢及象征四大指示功能,在本篇論文中被用為時間指示代詞,地點指示代詞,人稱指示代詞及語篇指示代詞四種用法。指示詞作為指示空間距離、時間距離、語篇距離的詞語,能夠起到引入、保持或改變某一時間、空間、人物要素的作用,從而將文本信息與語境緊密結(jié)合,同時它還暗示著說話者的態(tài)度。許多學(xué)者對指示詞進(jìn)行了大量的語用學(xué)研究,但這些研究幾乎都未涉及到指示詞的翻譯。并且,國內(nèi)學(xué)者在英語指示詞上的研究相對不足,對指示詞的翻譯研究也相對滯后。本文中就that一詞在小說中的具體指示功能及用法展開了詳細(xì)的分析,并結(jié)合AntConc軟件建立的單語語料庫對that在書中出現(xiàn)的總頻數(shù)及每一詞性的使用頻次進(jìn)行了統(tǒng)計分析,得出書中共出現(xiàn)200頻次的that,其中指示代詞that共出現(xiàn)133次,占整體比重的66.5%;標(biāo)句詞that出現(xiàn)了64次,占整體比重的32%;程度副詞that僅出現(xiàn)了2次,占整體比重的1%。其中,指示代詞that按照語用學(xué)的角度分析,that的指示功能使用率占29.5%,象征功能使用率占17%,非指示功能使用率占9%,手勢功能占6%。從指示代詞分類來看,話語指示代詞占43.5%,時間指示代詞占10.5%,人稱指示代詞占6.5%�；谶@一發(fā)現(xiàn),作者結(jié)合語料庫翻譯學(xué)理論,對漢譯文本中that的中文翻譯進(jìn)行了翻譯共性的分析,從得出的數(shù)據(jù)來看,書中共有94處that的指示代詞應(yīng)用,譯者均對其做了不同類型及程度的顯化,占整個that用法的47%;從功能語法的角度闡釋,關(guān)系詞that也被稱為標(biāo)句詞,譯者在翻譯活動中對其進(jìn)行了隱化的翻譯處理,占整體數(shù)量的42.5%;對于程度副詞that的翻譯,譯者采取了強化弱化的處理,僅占整理數(shù)量的1%。針對譯文中that一詞的翻譯,總結(jié)如下:標(biāo)句詞that在表示連接上下文、表達(dá)直觀感情、陳述客觀事實、引導(dǎo)下文解釋時通常忽略不譯;指示代詞that在指代具體時間,地點,人物及語篇話題時,譯文中會將文段中所涉及到的具體時間,地點,人物及語篇翻譯出來;程度副詞that出現(xiàn)在兩個語篇中,譯者通過語氣強化的翻譯手段體現(xiàn)出了原文中隱含的語氣。
[Abstract]:This paper is a study of the translation of the word that in Mango Street Cabin by means of a corpus and pragmatics, which is an interdisciplinary study between pragmatics and translation.Pragmatics studies the use of language in specific contexts.Translation is a subject that takes the source language as the subject and the target language as the object of study, focusing on the meaning and cultural information conversion between the two languages.Pragmatics not only helps the translator to understand the pragmatic usage of that in the source language, but also provides a new perspective for translation studies.Translation is not only a process of interlingual communication, but also a cross-cultural practice.This commonality of language facilitates the fusion and study of the two disciplines.According to the definition of the word "that" in Longman's Contemporary Advanced English Dictionary, it can be seen that there are three parts of speech: pronoun, conjunction and adverb.In pragmatics, pronoun part-of-speech is understood as the indicative function of a certain word, including deixis, non-deixis, gesture and symbolism, which is used in this thesis as a temporal demonstrative pronoun and a place demonstrative pronoun.Personal demonstrative pronouns and discourse demonstrative pronouns are used in four ways.The deixis, as the words of space distance, time distance and text distance, can introduce, maintain or change the elements of a certain time, space and character, so that the text information is closely combined with the context.It also implies the speaker's attitude.Many scholars have done a lot of pragmatic studies on deixis, but almost none of these studies have involved the translation of deixis.Moreover, domestic scholars' research on English deixis is relatively insufficient, and the translation of deixis is lagging behind.This paper makes a detailed analysis of the specific demonstrative function and usage of the word that in the novel, and makes a statistical analysis of the total frequency of that appearing in the book and the frequency of use of each part of speech with the help of the monolingual corpus established by AntConc software.It is concluded that there are 200 times of that in the book, in which the demonstrative pronoun that appears 133 times, accounting for 66.5 times of the whole proportion; the that of the marker appears 64 times, accounting for 32 times of the whole proportion; the degree adverb that appears only 2 times, accounting for 1% of the whole proportion.According to pragmatics, the deictic pronoun that accounts for 29.5Use of deixis, 17.7 of symbolism, 9of non-deixis and 6of gesture.According to the classification of demonstrative pronouns, the proportion of discourse demonstrative pronouns is 43.5, time demonstrative pronouns 10.5, personal deixis pronouns 6.5.Based on this discovery, the author analyzes the translation generality of that in Chinese translation based on corpus translation theory. According to the data obtained, there are 94 that demonstrative pronouns in the book.Translators have made different types and degrees of explicit use of that, accounting for 47% of the whole usage of that. From the perspective of functional grammar, the relative word that is also called the target word, which is implicitly translated by the translator in translation activities.For the translation of degree adverb that, the translator takes the treatment of strengthening and weakening, which only accounts for 1 / 10 of the total amount of degree adverb that.The translation of the word that in the translation is summarized as follows: the tag word that is used to express the connection context, express the intuitive feelings, state the objective facts, and usually ignore the untranslated when guiding the interpretation below; the demonstrative pronoun that refers to the specific time and place.The specific time, place, character and text involved in the passage are translated in the target text, and the degree adverb that appears in the two texts.The translator embodies the implied tone of the original text by means of tone-intensive translation.
