系統(tǒng)功能語言學視角下英語新聞標題的主位對比研究

【摘要】:新聞標題位于新聞的開端,是新聞的組成部分,起著非常重要的作用,F(xiàn)代讀者往往通過瀏覽新聞標題來獲取主要信息,并決定是否要閱讀全文。許多研究者從不同的角度對新聞標題進行了研究,然而很少有學者從系統(tǒng)功能語言學中主位理論的角度進行研究。本文將運用系統(tǒng)功能語言學的主位理論研究新聞標題。本文主要采用定量和定性相結合的分析方法對英語新聞標題中的不同主位進行分類研究,對《中國日報》和《衛(wèi)報》中英語新聞標題的主位進行對比研究,指出相同點和不同點。語料來自于2016年下半年世界上的兩件大事:G20峰會和里約奧運會。本文選取了《中國日報》和《衛(wèi)報》對于這兩件大事的相關新聞報導。分析表明,兩種不同類型的新聞標題既有相似之處也有不同之處。相似之處在于:就數(shù)量而言,多重主位和非標記性主位多于單項主位和標記性主位。大多數(shù)多重主位都是由兩種成分構成,并且大多數(shù)多重主位都是由人際主位和主題主位構成。就主題主位、人際主位和語篇主位而言,《中國日報》和《衛(wèi)報》都包含大量的主題主位和人際主位。不同之處在于:《衛(wèi)報》里的多重主位和無標記性主位多于《中國日報》;《衛(wèi)報》里的主題主位、人際主位和語篇主位出現(xiàn)的頻率比較高,而這些主位在《中國日報》里則出現(xiàn)的頻率比較低。通過以上分析,本文得出了兩個主要結論。首先,《衛(wèi)報》和《中國日報》的編者在寫英語新聞標題時都傾向于使用多重主位(人際主位和主題主位相結合)和無標記性主位。其次,《衛(wèi)報》的新聞編者更傾向于使用多重主位、人際主位和主題主位,《中國日報》的新聞編者則更傾向于使用物質過程和限定成分來充當主位。因為,《衛(wèi)報》中所有的新聞標題都是以英語為母語的編者寫的,而《中國日報》中大多數(shù)新聞標題都是由中國人寫的。因此,在編寫英語新聞標題時,為了使標題更地道,新聞編者應該多采用多重主位(人際主位和主題主位相結合)、無標記性主位、連接狀語和參與者成分充當主位。本文運用主位理論分析英語新聞標題,為新聞標題的研究提供了一個新視角,為系統(tǒng)功能語言學的運用提供了一個范例。然而,本文涉及的主位類型不多,英語新聞標題的來源不廣。因此,今后的研究者應該擴大主位研究的類型、豐富語料的來源。
[Abstract]:News headlines, which are at the beginning of news, are part of news and play a very important role. Modern readers often browse the headlines to get the main information and decide whether to read the full text. Many researchers have studied news headlines from different angles, but few have done so from the perspective of thematic theory in systemic functional linguistics. This paper will use the thematic theory of systemic functional linguistics to study news headlines. This paper mainly uses the quantitative and qualitative analysis method to classify different themes in English news headlines, and makes a comparative study on the themes of English news headlines in China Daily and Guardian. Points out similarities and differences. The corpus comes from two major events in the world in the second half of 2016: the G20 summit and the Rio Olympics. This paper selects the relevant news reports of China Daily and Guardian on these two major events. The analysis shows that there are similarities and differences between the two kinds of news headlines. The similarity is that, in terms of quantity, multiple and unmarked themes are more than single and marked themes. Most multiple themes are composed of two components, and most multiple themes are composed of interpersonal themes and thematic themes. In terms of theme, interpersonal theme and discourse theme, the China Daily and the Guardian include a large number of thematic and interpersonal themes. The difference is that there are more multiple themes and unmarked themes in the Guardian than in the China Daily, while the themes, interpersonal themes and discourse themes in the Guardian appear more frequently than in the China Daily. These themes appear less frequently in China Daily. Through the above analysis, this paper draws two main conclusions. First, editors of the Guardian and China Daily tend to use multiple themes (a combination of interpersonal and thematic themes) and unmarked themes when writing English headlines. Secondly, the news editors of the Guardian are more inclined to use multiple themes, while the news editors of China Daily are more inclined to use material processes and limited elements to act as themes. Because all the headlines in the Guardian are written by native English editors, while most of the headlines in the China Daily are written by Chinese. Therefore, in order to make English news headlines more authentic, news editors should adopt multiple themes (interpersonal theme and thematic theme, unmarked theme, connective adverbial and participant component as the theme). This paper uses thematic theory to analyze English news headlines, which provides a new perspective for the study of news headlines and an example for the application of systemic functional linguistics. However, there are not many thematic types involved in this paper, and the sources of English news headlines are not wide. Therefore, researchers in the future should enlarge the types of thematic studies and enrich the sources of corpus.
