在“一帶一路”的發(fā)展藍圖之下,中國有意在泰國南部修建運河,以此減少航運距離、提升安全等級,進而減少貿(mào)易成本。其實對泰國來說修建泰國運河并不是一個新的想法,早在350年前它就已被提出并且每一次都會遭到否決。在過去,運河無法開建的主要原因在于泰國的財政以及殖民問題。如今中方愿意向泰國提供資金以及技術(shù)支持,但運河項目仍舊處于考慮狀態(tài)。因此,本文旨在研究為什么泰國運河項目至今未能實施,以及什么是泰國運河項目所遇到的真正阻礙。研究數(shù)據(jù)來源于對泰國運河協(xié)會的三名領(lǐng)導(dǎo)成員Trang、Krabi和Nakhon Si Thammarat所進行的采訪以及相關(guān)文獻分析所得,目的在于探究泰國運河項目無法實施的本質(zhì)。結(jié)果表明,泰國顧慮運河會影響到國家安全以及地緣政治,將泰國分割成兩部分、破壞國家統(tǒng)一。此外,泰國運河位于馬六甲海峽附近,運河的修建會減少航運距離進而對馬六甲海峽到泰國運河的運輸路線發(fā)生變化。這一變化導(dǎo)致運河修建完成之后,一些國家可能會從中獲利,但另一些國家卻會失去利益,最后結(jié)果會導(dǎo)致東盟國家之間的利益沖突。
