【摘要】：My Country and My People是我國著名國學大師林語堂代表作之一。本文以勒弗菲爾(Lefevere)提出的“操縱”(manipulation)理論為框架,從社會文化角度比較了My Country and My People的兩個中譯本：20世紀30年代的黃嘉德譯本與80年代的郝志東等的譯本。比較的目的在于揭示不同社會文化背景下的意識形態(tài)、詩學以及贊助人三因素是如何作用于譯者的翻譯實踐,并影響其行為的。 勒弗菲爾是翻譯研究學派的主要代表人物之一,他將翻譯活動歸入文化系統(tǒng)并進行研究,討論了意識形態(tài)、詩學及贊助人對譯者翻譯文本和翻譯策略的選擇所產生的影響,提出翻譯即改寫這一論斷。不同的時代,不同的譯者,不同的文化環(huán)境和歷史背景,便有不同的意識形態(tài)傾向,受不同的主流詩學和贊助人的制約。譯者總是在意識形態(tài)、詩學傳統(tǒng)和贊助人的操縱下使譯本盡可能被更多的目的語讀者接受。 本文在操縱理論的指導下,通過比較上述兩個中文譯本,指出不同的歷史環(huán)境、意識形態(tài)、贊助人、主流詩學會影響到譯者的翻譯行為和翻譯策略,并進一步影響到譯文,因此不同時代的譯者,他們在語言表達方面存在著很大的差異。本文從語言、風格和文化等方面對兩個譯本進行了對比研究,共分五章。 第一章是引言,介紹了本文的研究目的,研究方法,研究意義以及文章結構。 第二章探討了操縱理論的由來,并對其意識形態(tài)、詩學以及贊助人作了簡單介紹。 第三章對林語堂、My Country and My People的內容以及所選擇的兩個中文譯本進行了介紹。 第四章對兩譯本進行評析,涉及到措詞、風格、句子結構等方面的比較,分別從意識形態(tài)、贊助人、主流詩學等方面闡述了影響,然后對兩本譯本的質量做了簡單評估,得出黃嘉德的譯本更接近譯者的寫作風格這一結論。 第五章是全文的結論。 通過兩個譯本的比較,揭示了譯者的確會受到各種操控因素的影響,并在譯文中有所體現(xiàn),而通過對譯文的分析,可看出譯者行為的痕跡和傾向。如果要進行文本和譯者行為的相互關系印證,則需要將文本因素和譯者因素結合起來,將翻譯內部因素和外部因素結合起來等,才可能全面而客觀的認識翻譯的活動。
