【摘要】：本科教學與科研的失衡是美國研究型大學一個持久的問題。對于這一頑疾,組織學至少有三種可能的解釋:第一種觀點認為這是美國研究型大學立式架構的組織缺陷,處于上層的研究生院必然會壓制下層的本科生院;第二種觀點認為大學是由學科和組織形成的矩陣結構,而研究型大學學科一維的拉力過強,組織無論怎么強調教學,都無法阻擋科研的沖擊;第三種觀點則是新制度主義的視角,強調美國研究型大學因尋求合法性,在社會觀念、政府規(guī)制和同類院校的壓力下,會制定一些平衡本科教學與科研關系的正式制度,但同時又采取一些非正式策略,虛化或懸置這些正式制度。
[Abstract]:The imbalance between undergraduate teaching and research is a persistent problem in American research universities.Histology has at least three possible explanations for this persistent disease: the first view is that this is the organizational defect of the vertical structure of American research universities, and that graduate schools at the upper level will inevitably suppress the undergrads;The second view is that the university is a matrix structure formed by the discipline and organization, but the one-dimensional pull of the research university is too strong, no matter how much the organization emphasizes the teaching, it can not stop the impact of scientific research.The third view is from the perspective of neo-institutionalism, emphasizing that American research universities, seeking legitimacy and under the pressure of social concepts, government regulations and similar institutions, will formulate some formal systems that balance the relationship between undergraduate teaching and scientific research.But at the same time, it also adopts some informal tactics to formalize or suspend these formal systems.
