法治對于一個地區(qū)、一個國家乃至整個人類文明的發(fā)展是不可或缺的。勞動合同是法治的體現(xiàn),是界定勞動者和用人單位之間勞動關系以及雙方權利和義務的協(xié)議。在現(xiàn)代社會,每個人幾乎都不可避免要接觸到勞動合同。自20世紀70年代以來,模糊限制語已經(jīng)成為一種有效的語用策略。它們經(jīng)常被用來模糊語言或者使語言更加精準。模糊限制語存在于各類文本中,勞動合同也不例外。為了幫助雇主和雇員、勞動合同撰寫者和商務英語學習者理解和使用模糊限制語,本文對勞動合同中使用的模糊限制語進行了定量和定性分析,以探討模糊限制語如何發(fā)揮作用并促進勞動合同的達成。由于模糊限制語可以被視為一種適應交際目的的語言選擇,因此采用了Verschueren的順應理論。本文從物理世界、社會世界和心理世界這三個語境關聯(lián)的角度闡釋了四種模糊限制語在勞動合同中的作用及其功能。作者首先建立了一個勞動合同語料庫（簡稱CLC）。它由美國證券交易委員會提供的30份勞動合同組成,涉及制造業(yè)、服務業(yè)、高科技和旅游業(yè)等不同行業(yè)的公司或組織。根據(jù)Brown和Levinson提出的模糊限制語的定義和Prince對其的分類,CLC中的所有模糊限制語都被識別并歸類為四種類型...
