本文從宏觀方面和微觀方面論證了功能主義在英文商務(wù)合同翻譯中的適用性。宏觀方面從功能主義的角度分析了商務(wù)合同的功能、文本類(lèi)型、翻譯目的、翻譯行為、翻譯原則以及譯者的忠誠(chéng),指出英文商務(wù)合同具有提供信息和規(guī)范行為的雙重功能,英文商務(wù)合同翻譯的目的是產(chǎn)生與原英文商務(wù)合同相同功能的中文文本,以對(duì)中國(guó)讀者產(chǎn)生同等效力以保證交易的順利進(jìn)行,翻譯行為包含跨文化的活動(dòng),關(guān)于翻譯原則,指出其“目的法則”能為商務(wù)合同漢譯的譯者提供總的指導(dǎo)方向,“忠實(shí)性法則”和“連貫性法則”能為譯者提供指導(dǎo)原則,“忠誠(chéng)原則”為譯者提供了應(yīng)當(dāng)遵從的職業(yè)倫理準(zhǔn)則。以功能主義理論為指導(dǎo),微觀方面從英文商務(wù)合同的詞法、句法以及篇章方面結(jié)合各自的語(yǔ)言特點(diǎn)論證了功能主義在英文商務(wù)合同翻譯中的適用性并提出翻譯方法。最后總結(jié)得出,通過(guò)宏觀層面的目的、功能和微觀層面的語(yǔ)言特征相結(jié)合,英文商務(wù)合同翻譯的交際目的可以順利實(shí)現(xiàn)。
