倫理學(xué)作為第一哲學(xué)——希臘化哲學(xué)的范式轉(zhuǎn)移

In research on ancient Greek philosophy,later Greek philosophy is an important domain that was long neglected by scholars in China and abroad.This situation changed from the 1970s onwards.In the last three decades,Western academia has laid more emphasis on the study of later Greek philosophy,with considerable success.The past twenty years have also witnessed more commitment to research in this area on the part of Chinese scholars.They have achieved some results,but their research is weak as regards the periodization of the history of philosophy,the characteristics of later Greek philosophy and the collation of historical materials,as well as methodology.For this reason the editorial board of this journal is presenting the following articles with a view to attracting more academic attention and advancing research in this field.In "Ethics as First Philosophy:The Paradigm Shift of Hellenistic Philosophy," Zhang Xuefu,Professor of the Department of Philosophy in Zhejiang University,and Shi Minmin,Associate Professor of the School of Humanities of Hangzhou Institute of Commerce,hold that Hellenistic philosophy regarded ethics as the first philosophy;it reshaped the system of knowledge allocation by replacing intellectual objectives with therapeutic purpose,speculation with the study of passion,and rational reflection with exploration of desires.The distinctive orientation of Hellenistic philosophy in terms of research objects,topics and concepts exerted a profound influence on both late ancient and medieval philosophies.Wang Xiaochao,Professor at the Department of Philosophy in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsinghua University,points out in his "Chinese Research on Later Greek Philosophy" that with regard to the boundaries of later Greek philosophy,Chinese scholars have,through years of exploration,come up with independent opinions and solutions different from those of their European and American counterparts.In his view,Chinese scholars have a better understanding of the characteristics of later Greek philosophy,but their work clearly falls short with regard to historical data.As far as methodology is concerned,there is a clear tendency toward convergence between Chinese scholars and their foreign counterparts.
